The SYPTE didnt last long either , Hull managed to use them well , but they wernt liked fuel was a real problem with them , and they were rather heavey plus of course there was also the political problems - not made in uk - when most of the PTEs had a local purchase / UK purchase policy.

I was allowed to use the bus on my own when i started at secondary school (Regent Vs if I was lucky or PDR1/Park Royals) adn then by 13 was going far and wide - ish .
But that was the early 1970s wether it would be safe today is another matter, however think this woman needs to buy a metro card !

The way I came back invovled a very steep climb to kings cross it was good.

Just got back a good day nice to see the number of buses is increasing I counted 28 at 1415 hours and there were some out on the road , Pleased to see the service to sowerby bridge was good with supervision at both ends , however, perhaps the drivers need route cards as the one i went on missed turning and ended up miles away before he could turn round. Even with that problem a good day even though I had to leave at 1500 hours.

Went to catch the Scarborough Spa at Wakefield Kirkgate today - this station is was far busier than I expected to be honest it really does need a member of staff on duty. It is very unwelcoming with little or no information. Couldnt resist a LMS engine with a MR station structure.

It was leatherette
In Sheffield it was tradiotional that the upper deck was leatherette / cloth on the backs and cloth on the bottoms - the actual seats
The lower deck was the same as the upper deck for the backs but the seats were cloth - the reasoning behind this was that workman with overalls went up stairs and ladies with clean skirts went down stairs so it was easier to keep the upper deck clean.
