With the passing of another year, and as I get older, I become ever more nostalgic. With lot's of time on my hands over the Christmas holidays I got to thinking about what I would do if I had a time machine.
Other than the obvious use of making myself richer, in a Biff Tannen (Back to the Future II) stylee, I have loads of gaps in my photo collection which I would love to fill up. I wonder where you all might like to travel back to with your time travelling digital cameras?
Top of my huge list would be
1. Bradford 1979, to photo all of WYPTE's 95 Scania Metropolitans.
2. Bradford 1973, to see and snap Alexander bodied Atlanteans and Fleetlines in the Bradford Corporation livery, I only ever remember these in Green and Buttermilk.
Both the above time periods would also see me chasing the Bristol Lodekka's and RE's and Bristol VR's and Leyland Nationals of the West Yorkshire Roadcar fleet.
A second thought that occured to me was the commuting possibilities open to me with a time machine.
Would be great to travel home from Bradford to Shipley, at much less cost, on a Fleetline/Metropolitan/Olympian on the 640 or an RE or National on the 678. Obviously I'd have to remember to change back to current day before trying to enter my house or risk an awkward meeting with the seventies owner of my house!!
I think overall I'd go for the Scania as these are the buses I grew up watching every day. What would you be travelling on to get home from work in your chosen time period?
Happy New Year everyone.......but which year?
