This as been on the cards for some time , it's to save money why have 2 MD's , pay rolls, etc etc, when you can merge and use just one , indeed, I belive that stagecoach do a lot of things centrally that first do locally. As some one else as said there doesnt appear to be any problem transfering buses between units at the moment.
I can not see it affect routes unless its for engineering purposes eg the frontrunner route from chesterfield to essex so the buses could return home for engineering purposes.

I dont own the type of camera you have however I hope that the following information regarding digital media will be of help, you make the comment that you want to know how to focus on a moving vehcile as far as I know taking a still of a moving vehicle at night would be very difficult, I use two methodes for night work : STILL Using a digiatl camera set to either sports or night / dusk I place the camera on a tripod or any suitable surface : a wall, the pavement , a bus etc etc. Remember if you are desperate then you can use a lamp post i will hold the camera still against the post using the camera side , the camerea needs a flat side without curves or anything sticking out. The photo below was taken at 2 seconds - I let the camera decide, a tripod was used s116.photobucket.com/albums/o24/TRAMMANN/?action=view¤t=COMPACTCAMERA2623.jpgThe shot below was an experimental shot I just liked the scene so I tried it s116.photobucket.com/albums/o24/TRAMMANN/?action=view¤t=COMPACTCAMERA2426.jpgVIDEO Most camera's allow you to use video mode, I will use this at night if there is a moving subject : s116.photobucket.com/albums/o24/TRAMMANN/?action=view¤t=video002-1.flvLIGHTING For all of the above to work you need some form of lighting , street lighting is the most comon form . If you have a subject that is still and you have a camera that has a bulb option (this allows the camera lens to be open at your will) you set it to B open the lens and then (safety allowing) cover the subject with a spot light - this method is used in mines and I have used it in extream cases . It does work but you can only use it if it is ok for you to light the still subject . I dont have any examples unfortunatley but I have used it with a bus against a railway station - it was the first time the bus had been out I was told by the "experts " that it wasnt worth trying - strangley they bought copies my prints . A NOTE ON TRIPODS My tripod cost around £40 as I need one that is reasonable transportable its not very large but will allow me to use it in both portrait and landscape mods which is very usefull. I now buy tripods which are the old fashioned screew type I find the clip type while quick to get set up tend to disintegrate after a short while. Hope the above notes are of use to you

i doubt the air ambulance would be grounded as they are allowing emergency flights, and the helicopter flies at low level any way....also last time this volcano exploded in 1821 it lasted for 2 years, should be intresting though, also flights not now to resume until 13:00 fri at the earliest.... According to a spokesman for the yorkshire air ambluance which was broadcast on BBC radio sheffield (and other yorkshire stations ) at 1300 hours today the air ambulance was grounded The current report is , as you say , all airports shut till 1300 hours friday - however, looking at some reports they sugest saturday for USA flights then next week europe. Thats if the volcano stops throwing stuff out

Looking at press reports it would appear that the 7am time is optomistic as by then the cload will be over europe.
Therefore UK airports may be ok but they wont be able to fly to european destinations.
The yorkshire air ambulance as also been grounded

I don't think a Metro guy would spruce up the bus. If it was a metro employee he may remove posters from the bus if they were not in line with any contract IE out of date metro posters still displayed after the removal date

So whats the problem, Metro and other such organisations cant win can they , if they keep it where it is and an accident occured then people will ask why it wasnt moved. Around 8 years ago I was in Lancashire / Greater Manchester and I was appalled at the number of bus stops that had not been moved since the days of rear entrance buses. As a result every time the bus stopped at one of these stops it blocked any local side road.
In short if stops need to be removed then move them unless there is a shelter or road signage the cost is minimal

Running early today is surprising. The idiot cars are doing 10 mph slowing everyone down! I wouldn't call them idiots, the idiots are those that do more than 30mph when it is icy. Accidents waiting to happen! The idiots are like the one I found yesterday he was stuck going up a 1 in 10 hill , he had to get up there to go to the supermarket (morrisions ) to get bread / milk he had driven a mile going past a tesco, netto, farm foods, etc etc Thats an idiot First in sheffield brouoght there servies off around 6pm last night they were all over place before hand , it sounds like sheffield had what you had snow around 2pm which then froze even on main roads

Any bus/lorry diesel engine can burst into flames you only need a leaking injector, fuel spilling in the engine compartmant and if it gets hot enough or coupled with an electrical fault and it could ignite. They are rare but they do happen. Rear engined buses are more of a problem since the driver is less likely to smell any engine comparment fuel leak Petrol engines even are more dangerous since petrol is much more volitile and flammable than diesel. Dominator syndrome !

Aving been to the peace hall event for years both as a visitor and as a participant I do not think its suitable for a rally with a lot of buses.
The "bus service " needs to be more robust with details of routes and times and some one supervising it so you know whats happening .
I didnt use the serice last year as I didnt want to get stuck out in the middle of no where
