Modern day castings I would like to see is either a Olympus. I believe EFE are still down for producing a new Olympus casting. Its been on the cards for some time now though there hasn't been much information on it recently. Two castings I've been hoping to see for some time are now being produced. TTC Diecast are releasing the Volvo B10M with Alexander PS body work and the Optare Versa. New style Wright bodied vehicles would be nice, the Gemini2 and the Eclipse2. David.c

Just a quick update, I've now uploaded all my Arriva West Yorkshire pictures. They can all be found at www.flickr.com/photos/davidsnwtransport/sets/72157627668784574/Seeing that the great Arriva Yorkshire bus shuffle of 2012 is starting to take place, I think quite a few of my pictures will soon be historical pictures. I dont normally do photo or site plugging, but I thought that this may be of interest to some people on here. With the demise of fotopic, nearly a year ago now, I set up a flickr site which has nearly 1,500 pictures uploaded now. As well as recent pictures taken over the last year or so I'm also uploading my large collection of older pictures formerly on fotopic. Going through these collections in alphabetical order, I've now reached my Arriva West Yorkshire collection. Most of the pictures were taken during my time living in Huddersfield between 2006-2010. If you're interested then please take a look, www.flickr.com/photos/davidsnwtransport/I will at some point reach my collections for other West Yorkshire operators like Centrebus and First, but that may take a while yet. Thanks, David.c

The problem is, if the bus station was demolished, what happens to the city's bus network?
Preston has a bus network in which all bus routes work in and out of the city centre, converging on the bus station. If it was to be demolished and replaced by a smaller bus station then there would be a major problem. Many of the bus routes operate at a high frequency of up to every 15mins. Having this many buses trying to use a small facility would be a major headache for all concerned. If the demolition was to take place and its replacement built then there would have to be major changes to the city’s bus network.
Personally, I think the bus station is serving its purpose well. It provides an interchange between all the city’s bus services as well as local and national coach services. The car park above is always busy as well. I think money should be put forward to have the bus station fully refurbished. All the facilities needed are there, its just that there all very run down and very out dated.
I do also have ideas about what could be done should the bus station be demolished. But that’s for another time.

Thanks for that, but aren't they the three digit Centrebus fleet numbers as currently allocated?
I'm after the K-Line fleet numbers allocated to the vehicles before Centrebus arrived.

Hi all,
I haven't been on here for a while but I was hoping for some help regarding K-Line fleet numbers.
I've been sorting through my picture recently and I've come up to the K-Line fleet. I'm having problems finding fleet numbers for four of the their buses, these fleet numbers being before the three digit Centrebus numbers that are now allocate.
The four buses are: Dart, KUI6564 Cadet, YJ07JLU Cadet, YJ57BSU Commander, YJ55WTD.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

That's just answered my question about where these Scania single deckers have come from. It would be Reading Bus, I recognise the livery. I photographed one in York on Saturday, on the 142 to Ripon, while waiting for the bus to the racecourse for the Model Rail show. www.flickr.com/photos/davidsnwtransport/5649581407/in/photostreamThey will be the ones that have been displaced at Reading by the new Enviro400s that operate the Reading - Newbury service. It has allowed for a cascade of vehicles through out the Reading fleet and has lead to the sale of some Wright Solars and Omnidekkas. The coach pictured earlier in the thread looks good. Its a Panther though, not an Elite. David.c

Thanks Jamie, didn't think it would be a WY one. Would have been all over the forum if it was. Edit, just looked at your flickr site and found your pictures of the same vehicle. All understood now David.c

Fotopic not working at all this morning. All you get is "Oops! Internet Explorer could not find davidsnonrailwaypics.fotopic.net" when trying to load any fotopic site. Hopefully just a temporary glitch and things will be sorted soon. But in other news I have now created my own flicker site. Available at www.flickr.com/photos/davidsnwtransportI have uploaded a small collection of pictures I took at Bury Interchange recently. I'm still working my way through the site at the moment, working out what does what and how things can be set up and laid out, but I'm getting the hang of it. Feel free to have a look. As I still have just under a year left of my fotopic subscription, I'll be concentrating my efforts on my two fotopic sites for a while longer yet but will be sorting out my flicker site so that its ready for the change over when the time comes. All sounds good to me.
I think watermarks are a good idea, it helps to prevent copyright issues. I added a watermark to all my fotopic pictures (and the information across the bottom of each picture) following problems with people taking the pictures and passing them off as their own. Overall copyright looks to be dealt with better on fotopic then flicker (most likely to do with being able to buy them on fotopic).
The main reason I have stayed with fotopic is that I don't think its possible to set out a flicker site with collections for each operator (like I have done with my fotopic site), unless people know other wise.
Will do some more looking at flicker, I may yet take the plunge to swap from fotopic.

P.S. G547VVB, I just spent a few minutes looking at your flicker site while typing this post. Some very good pictures there.

To be honest it looks like every other livery that Best Impressions has come up with! Ditto. There's no imagination with bus liveries these days. So many operators go to Best Impressions who then produce a livery that is similar to another livery they produced for another operator in the past. Slogans and people fetcher on many of their creations. People are saying that the new Preston Bus livery is to complex and complicated, but compared to this its great. Over all the bus looks ok, though I do think a bit more white could be added to break up all that red/orange David.c

The term "Greener Buses" can be put on any bus that has ether a Hybrid, Electric, Bio Diesel or Low Emission Diesel propulsion system.
I would think many operators test these kinds of vehicles in their fleets and networks to see if any long term reduction in service costs and vehicle emissions could come about. Weather they then follow up these tests with a full bus order would depend on weather they think it would be a viable long term solution to cutting emissions and service costs while keeping up service levels and reliability.
I think York would benefit from the use of low emission vehicles due to the congested nature of the city and the high volume of people, both residents and visitors.

Is Flicker any good? I have two fotopic sites but with continual problems with the system (overall down time, problems with image thumbnails, non functional search facility) I have been considering Flicker for a while now.
I have looked around on Flicker and it does look good. My only criticism is that it can become quite complex with photo linking and tagging.
I am guessing Flicker is free to use. Paying £45 a year for fotopic is quite alot when the level of service is so low.

If you really want fences, look at Preston bus station. People used to walk out of any old stand and across the forecourt, so two stands were given up as exits with large fences to stop people wondering too much. Yes, Preston Bus Station is mental. I went a couple of years ago and everyone was just wandering straight across behind reversing buses etc. same with the buses, they were just reversing whereever with no road markings to guide the drivers. It has been a free for all at Preston Bus station for many years with pedestrians and buses mixing together all around the bus station. But a fatal accident in which a person was crushed under a bus reversing off stand (the driver was fined for not using the rear facing camera on the bus even though the person was in the wrong place) lead to the creation of the pedestrian walkways/crossings on one side of the bus station and the introduction of a one way system for the buses with a speed limit that's heavily enforced by the bus operators and station security. People are just not bothered about their own safety these days. David.c

They arrived at Heysham Docks back in January this year. Here's a picture of 5 of the batch (don't know how many there are altogether) parked at the docks waiting to be taken down to Newport. alistair268.fotopic.net/p62928624.htmlWould be nice if Centerbus were to gain these, or somthing similer. That Cadet, YD02RBZ, is from the same batch as the blue Cadet currently operated by K-Line, YD02RBX. Wounder if more of these are due or whether CentreBus are working towards a pix and mix fleet.

Huddersfield Bus Olympus 906 YN07LHZ parked at the Waterloo depot with a damaged top deck front window. Looks to have hit a low tree branch as the damage is all across the upper half of the window and the tree basher on the front left corner (above the door).

Huddersfield Bus Sprite 538 V508EFR had broken down just round the corner from the Hudd Bus depot at Waterloo this afternoon. Causing alot of traffic problems along what is always a busy stretch of road.

Huddersfield bus depot were today the recipients of 2 MCW evolutions The registration plates are not definate but they are 05 and 55 plate in plain white the registrations i THINK are correct are 1) HY55 JYO 2) BY05 CBO Both at the depot this morning but have since gone. Could be back later, who knows. Nether of those registrations brings up any results on fotopic or Google. The last MCV Evolution they had was back in 2008 when they had Blue Bus hire vehicle PL06TGF on hire for a few months. davidsnonrailwaypics.fotopic.net/p50412867.htmlDavid.c

Huddersfield Bus/CentreBus Marshall Dart 514 S528KFL broke down just out side Huddersfield late this afternoon while working to Denby Dale. Had to be towed the short distance back to the depot at Waterloo.
