yes leeds operated some for a while, boxy east lancs bodies, used for schools and 1 became a trainer! over the years leeds has been a dumping ground for ugly east lancs bodied scanias

the lynxes stayed with keighley and district or atleast in blazefield group. The Leyland Olympians are with stagecoach in lincoln now. A k&D lynx is to be preserved anyway.

at one time Leeds operated civilised buses not glorified meccano kits (ie Wright bodies). Now the streets have buses that look like garden pests!! I hope first do not want more subsidies just so it can operate these monstrosities!!

sister 5028 cub 28 y went under a low bridge near ludlem st depot about 1987/88 time and needed a new roof. wheres ludlem st depot? thought this bus was new in west yorkshire in 83/84? ludlum street was a bradford depot til about 1984 . Closed before thornbury depot did in about 1987. The transport museum used to be at ludlum street before they got daft and moved to transperiance. Its were carnation is now near manchester road

all the wypte/yprkshire rider metrobuses had Gardner engines and voith gearboxes which make them sound like vacuum cleaners and i think the ex wyrcc olympians had different gearboxes to wyptes who had fully automatic gearboxes. Its th gearbox that makes them sound different, quite odd really

That thread only says that new, branded buses for the X6 is a rumour. Unless it has now been confirmed, I do very much apologise for questioning it... i think it is a rumour still, however still unconfirmed

From what I have heard, the roe/optare olympians will be around until 2009 for school duties as they are now, some of the other alexander bodied and ncme bodied olympians will be going first!

I think they should swap our last remaining lances of huddersfield for the scanias as I've never seen some scania bodied striders around huddersfield routes. they used to be on 344 and 502 etc when halifax had them, cos they operated there when new and moved to leeds eventually

the re-opening of the wortley curve would be brilliant, allows bradford - london kings cross trains to go direct to london, not calling at leeds, this would open many doors. Also a cross bradford rail link though this will never happen. an underground railway was talked about during the design stages of the interchange!!

Well what about the cyclists and walkers along the Spen Valley Greenway!!!
haha, they can manage without that surely!! it would be good to reopen thst route, opens al kinds of possibilities as far as services are concerned! e.g. direct bradford-wakefield service

5507? might get yorkshire rider livery? wasnt this bus in gold rider when first into service or that metrobus/coach cream, brown and orange livery. oh and what fleet number would that atlantean be? well done, it was new in metrocoach livery!! however, from what I have been told it will received yorks rider livery then when some suitable coach seats are sourced, it will gain its original livery!oh and the atlantean is 6241 (think thats right no. if not then 1 from that batch)
might be soon!! so then what do tou know is it going to be 5515 taht we were on about the other day once its past its mot, suppose this would look nicer in gold rider or the white rose livery
from what I've been told 5507 may recieve this livery as may an atlantean which a huddersfield based preservationist owns. 5511 was the only one to wear white rose livery, shame she wasnt saved, ive done a olympian /optare model of that livery, great livery it is too!

I think I've said it before but for me the over-riding memory of Rider (no pun intended) will be the Roe bodied Atlanteans. How I'd love somebody to release one in model form! unlikely to ahppen soon, however you can get a kit of a leeds roe bodied atlantean ie. jumbo

I think more could have been done to Bradford Interchange without demolishing it all Of course it looked bad in the 90s but that was because it was still in it's original 70s condition, the bus stands looked like they hadn't had any sort of refurbishment at all. A good refurbishment of the stands, new windows, automatic doors could have worked out Metro could have used stands E, F etc for storage if not in use exactly the point i was making above, but because of problems with the building, it was no doubt unfit ie water leakage and vibration problems below. The interchange idea was switched off in the 1990s when half closed and instead of paying off the interchange debt, metro infact bought new offices in leeds with the money when yorkshire rider was privatised in 1988

Im from Bradford and im not slagging it off, i was a fan of the original and wish it was still up but from certain points of view what I say is quite true! the new bus concourse is awful! there was so much they could have done to refurbish the old one!! Its sad to think it took from 1973 to 1977 to build and by 1990, half was surplus, in 1995 half was demolished then september 1997 the depot closed! who knows maybe if metro never existed we might still have the original considering the whole place was a British Rail and Bradford City Transport joint effort! I will slag off the 'recent refurbishment' because it was unessacery when you look at what could have been done to the original however short comings in design etc ment it was unfit for further use
