which bus was your memory of yorkshire rider and the one you probably went on all the time? when i was at school it was always 652 ilkley to shipley and always 5501/4,5509/11, 5515/6 on this route. i loved 5509 as it was noisy and in the red of west yorkshire road car. then i got the 661 to baildon. those were the days of character buses.

I think I've said it before but for me the over-riding memory of Rider (no pun intended) will be the Roe bodied Atlanteans. How I'd love somebody to release one in model form!

nothing wrong with 5509 when at halifax she went like the clappers, a school trip to manchester in 1987 on private hire work proved this as she tackled the steep gradients of the m62 with relative ease.

Another reminder of Yorkshire Rider is when the buses used to run up Briggate in Leeds. The road was always full of Atlanteans and MCW Metrobus!

the Yorkshire Rider livery seemed to suit old and new buses. i served on pcc when BRADFORD area buses became Bradford Traveller and painted blue (sadly not blue and primrose) but what were the other first companies in wy called ?

Leeds were known as Leeds City Link they were Orange, Red & White. Hailfax were known as Calderline they were Blue, Yellow & White. Huddersfield were known as Huddersfield Kingfisher they were Light Green & Dark Green. York were known as Rider York they were the same as the Huddersfield Kingfisher.
