Bus Miles

A site I've been using to record my journeys on. Bus miles is a site where you can record all your bus journeys such as the bus you was on the time of the bus, where you got off it ect. It is integrated with bustimes meaning it logs the liveries and even the type of bus you been on. If you put 1455 as your fleet number for a journey it will automatically come back as a Wright Pulsar 2 in the Old Arriva Livery. I find it an excellent site to record my bus journeys and it even calculates my mileage as well. Here's the link busmiles.uk. Looks interesting, certainly different to just typing my journeys made in my phone notes.

To all those making a big issue about how my post has been wrote, and seemingly have become a bit lost, here are some pointers for you. The date is at the top of the post, the location has been described in the post, and the post was posted on the day of the accident so the wording is valid. What the frig is this, an English lesson? One thing I do know, nit picking comments are not ones related to this topic and are clearly NOT answering my question, so let's get back on topic! That's quite a rant from a polite suggestion about how this could have been clearer. I had to look up where Scott Hall Road is - you could have mentioned this was the busway in North Leeds. You don't have to take on any of this advice, but if you do, you may find more people interested in your posts than trying to work out what they mean. To be fair to the original poster, I should imagine the vast majoirty of veg on this forum have an awareness of the Scott Hall Road guideway. If this forum was a national one then ok, but it is West Yorkshire specific...

Here's one of those obvious questions, it says you can telephone them to book, but where the frig is the phone number! It looks dead obvious that they are determined to enforce everyone to book via apps for everything nowadays. With young people it's app this and app that, but not everyone is young and has the patience to learn about these blasted things, what if you have a short fuse and throw your blasted smart phone through walls and windows in frustration as you struggle to use it! I gave up after a year and went back to old tech, I also have a landline, oh and I'm 44 by the way. In this age of so called equality, I'm tempted to take one of these organisations to court one day and sue for discriminating against people who can't use smart phones. I'm 'young' (23) and hate this new age of booking everything on my phone. Quite frankly, even though I work with a lot of state of the art tech in my job, I hate having to/ being pushed to do everything online in day to day life. I like talking to people in real life, I like to go to the bank to do my accounts, I like to shop IN PERSON. So don't worry not just the older generations who get peeved off with this garbage.

Well if her plans lead to integrated ticketing and franchising of routes it could be a possibility in the future that we see First sell out, like in Manchester and London. Who would replace First? Transdev? Arriva certainly wouldn't have any interest in their current form it would appear. I can only see Stagecoach and Go Ahead moving in if that were to happen. First group recently changed their long term vision and have seemingly decided to focus on the UK bus market (quite the opposite of what was proposed a year or so ago); and with West Yorks being their most profitable division, I can't seem them leaving without a fuss.

Looks like a good contender for around West Yorkshire and looks much better than the vehicle Wrightbus has on offer. Will be interesting to see if First look at purchasing these to eventually replace some of the older B7RLEs, or whether they choose to go with more Yutongs. I can't wait to see one in person, as you don't exactly get a very clear shot of the bus from any of the photos.

I've seen plenty of No 1s going up there (turning right from Bishopgate Street onto City Square).

To my surprise, Stagecoach MCSL Ribble heritage livery E400 15566 made an appearance on the 280 today in Skipton.

Hearing the same thing over and over about Transdev buying Arriva Selby depot and routes? Granted this is rumour as there’s not an official release but seem to be hearing this from drivers of both companies. Has anyone heard the same? That seems believable to be fair. Didn't Arriva try to turn Selby into a Yorkshire Tiger operation a few years ago and instead the depot accepted a pay cut? So this would seem logical, especially with its position near existing York operations.

ALX 30956 is currently my bus for a nice sunny(ish) evening ride over to Wakefield on 231. ALX400s are good on 231/232. Aye, wasn't a bad ride. Looks particularly out of place in Wakey bus station however.

Still the 760 in my book. Always has been, always will lol. Not strictly true, it was the 31 long before it became the 760. In my lifetime anyway 😄. Out of interest was its 'sister' 670 always numbered that way or did it have a previous number?

508 still not going to the bus station? It's great living in certain parts of west Leeds. 35 gets cut. 86 cut to hourly. 16 running every 15 minutes. 508 only goes to the edge of town (practically) At least transdev provide a reliable service with 760. It's nearly 4 years since the 760 was renumbered to be the 60. Still the 760 in my book. Always has been, always will lol.

90% of journeys I've made on them have interworked, albeit have a 5 minute wait at Thorpe Lane. This is midweek and saturday though.

Leedscity 35289 is currently on the X6. And unless it was running severely late; it set off 2/3 minutes early from LBS.
1825 on 760 aswell.

Why does the 15 have to be single deckers? Apparently it's something to do with the new low bridge alert system on the ticket machines, and I know the 15 doesn't actually go under the low bridge but it goes right next to it before turning Is this low bridge alert system similar to Go North East do you know? It's very irritating when you constantly hear 'warning low bridge in 50 metres' Especially when it's impossible for the bus to go under the bridge anyway because of the road layout. I understand it's importance on some routes with some bridges, but not with every single bridge within a certain radius of the bus, a lot of which are not even near the route.

I've been wondering how many different terms, nicknames and words there are that are used to describe things within our hobby, that would be alien to the outside world (IE 99.9999% of people).
Train spotters/ railway enthusiasts have many of these and can be found on various webistes on t'internet.
For example;
Veg: Bus Enthusiast of any persuasion.
Bashing: Riding about on buses, similar to the railways except no documentary was ever made about someone sat at the back of an Olympian. (Check out 'Bashers' on youtube if you don't already know).
Shed: A crap bus, again similar to railway use.

Huddersfield Bus Company? Halifax Bus Company? I'm just thinking are those names already owned by TJ Walsh and Centrebus

Some great news in my opinion, that I wasn't expecting; though I had considered it in the past.
Too early for speculation of course, but I wonder if it will be one brand across the two towns (place your bets on names now) or whether they will try target Halifax and Huddersfield separately.
Hopefully something like the 502 can be developed with full size singles and build up a good customer base. I find it crazy how the B3 (500) has more customers than a route linking two major West Yorkshire towns.
Another point is hopefully they don't decide to go fully solo operated; which could be quite tempting and maintain full size buses to allow for growth.

From a few photos I've seen on local community groups; there used to be a tram terminus at Rodley. (Outside the Owl/ Barge I believe).
Does anyone have any more information on this, what year did it close? Where did it go out of Rodley (I would suspect up to Bramley and then maybe on to town)?

Very odd sighting this afternoon, whilst driving towards Skipton, I saw a Go North East 'Indigo' branded solo. A59/ A65 roundabout.

Lol.
Whilst the shagged up, horrifically distorted, computer-generated, better suited to listening to Vera Lynn in the bomb shelters-next stop announcement system screams 'THE NEXT STOP IS GRASSINGTON'.

People are becoming aware of this spin from Transdev clearly driven through the boss...albeit his time will come. Let's hope his time does indeed come and he is replaced with maybe a manager from a certain German company operating around Wakefield, Castleford and Dewsbury. I'm personally sick of the nice interiors that Transdev offer and would much rather sit on an e-leather enviro that smells of dog sick and has McDonalds wrappers strewn across the floor.
