Do we know why no single decks in Leeds have gained the new livery? Many are starting to look rather tatty especially with all the new stuff around!

There is a launch in Bradford on this Wednesday am. This is mainly aimed at councils and the media. This is not going to be a quiet launch The ftrs will be highly visible once in service. The idea of good route brandingi s that it will be self promoting. Do you know the time and location of this?

We can only hope they do the same in Bradford on Friday too, this event hasn`t been well publicised, I got the info from a driver on flickr! First are not brilliant when it comes to p/r!

One of the "Hyperlink" streetcars will be on display to the public on Briggate on Friday, with First "Hosts" showing it off to the general public!

I wish they`d hurry up and despatch these uncomfortable buses to the scrapman, despite the flood of new buses we still have these 14 year old Scania`s in all day service and on the guideways as well! Hang on, just editing your comment a bit. 'Ive changed my mind no not a good idea to scrap them all, passengers on short journeys don't need comfort, they need to speed and some (see below) of those give a seat of your pants speedy ride and I hope they stay on for as long as possible. Now when I say some, as you all know I really mean just some, their are a few of those Scania's from Rock Ferry for exapmle that are clapped out slow wrecks and these need to go, not the quick ones!' Glad to have helped change your mind, and your message.Alas I`m afraid not, time for a one way trip to PVS Barnsley for these old girls.

I believe that Bradford`s newest B9`s currently used on the 72 are moving to Bramley to work on route 4. I class route 4 now as a "Heritage Service"! It`s worth noting that regular users of route 4 will be glad to see FTR go!

In the last 2 days I have seen new Gemini 2`s, B7LA`s and tonight a Volvo Olympian on this route! Basically expect anything to turn up!

Quite recently there was an announcement that Leeds would receive 200 new buses in the next two years, so there are 102 more in the pipeline soon.

Headingley is now awash with Gemini 2`s, even on routes 97 and the odd appearance on the X84.

So is Leeds the new London? Inroads of new buses with older ones cascaded to the plebs elsewhere? Perhaps First could investigate reinstating "utility" bodies for the likes of us hoiks in Bradford and Halifax. The new 98 Geminis ought to have been shared out more fairly. Why didn't the Olympic Geminis go straight to Sheffield and stop the shenanigans? It rather looks that way, one gets the impression Halifax is being run down for sale and Bradford has become the forgotten city.

"Hyperlink"! where do they get their ideas from! This will sadly come back to haunt them when they start breaking down. I love the colour scheme but I think the lower panel branding is poor, all the more ironic when you consider the 72 picture branding on the barbie livered Gemini`s looked rather nice. A shame really.

Other than the odd bit of window etching, Leeds buses don`t suffer the dreadful vandalism of some major cities.

37112 & 30937 parked up at Olive Grove Sheffield yesterday 30937 still has an "Elite" sticker from 2001. Who remembers what "Elite" represented today? Alas there`s nothing elite about the east Leeds guided busways now, look rather sad and so do the vehicles that operate on it,time for a revamp!`

I noticed yesterday when boarding 36224 that the driver anti assault screen has no gap at the bottom to hand the driver cash, you have rather to awkwardly hand your money over the top of the ticket machine. This will be to do with cashless boarding in London I presume. I was impressed with the total lack of rattles and squeaks, good buses. Passenger reaction was good.

It is a Bradford B10BLE not a Scania Thank you for the correction, it looked very smart in the new livery.

My observation at the Corn Exchange last night`s evening peak were that all the red/blue line branding had gone from the native B9`s and Olympic Gemini`s were much in evidence, especially on route 51, 2, 3, 13. It appears that they are being rushed into service still sporting "First in London" posters but with Leeds branding applied! There were several more lined up at Hunslet Park, also the first Leeds scania in the new livery. See "Leeds Buses old and new" on flickr.

Well i saw 37118 derouted/debranded today and 37119 not touched, all the t'others i've seen on routes2/3/12/13 this week are the ones Leeds are keeping,37121 upwards.. 37123 upwards . Definatly off this weekend-big problems with the new B9s being delivered. Is it a problem with the actual buses themselves or just a case of late delivery?

Ooh didn't mean to start a squabble here, sorry! Whilst the refreshing new livery us pleasing to the eye, I think that in the scheme of "improving your buses" the money would be perhaps better spent on giving the interiors a deep clean anyhow! I would agree with that staement. We have just made a start on painting 10 year old B7TL/ALX400s in Sheffield, and they look new buses-until you get on and see the mess from the constant rainwater leaks and the worn out seats and flooring, plus the window etching. In the First "Better buses for life" relaunch in January, Giles Fearnley promised a major internal refurb for buses in their mid-life. the only sign of this so far is FTR.

It will be interesting to see how this changeover works as the new buses have to arrive first before the current fleet can go, where will they put them all?

I think that`s right, yesterday was the official opening of the A65 Quality Bus Corridor and they were just used as a publicity stunt, shame we can`t keep them.

That is a turn up getting Enviro 400`s in Leeds, do we know how many are coming? Noticed a hybrid at Hunslet Park today.

Smilies are doing 20 FTRs following refurbishment and then the remaining 19, should really improve performance.

They are receiving new cummins engines in Newcastle, what is interesting is that 20 are to be done followed by 19 more from the "Leeds Area" which suggests all 39 are to be based in Leeds!
