I understand that the first bus to be treated to the new colour scheme is a Leeds based 09 plate Gemini.
But what colour will it be in? Grey undercoat to be applied on Monday!
All I can say is the colour can be a family name which can be spelt in at least two different ways

The Gemini is expected to completed this week in three shades of the selected colour before the any final changes are agreed and implemented the following week so it's looking like the completed bus will be unveiled by the end of September or very early October.

I have been told that the new look is going to look more like the Yorkshire Rider livery.
As the paint that's going to be applied to the bus presently in Leeds-Hunslet will also be applied to buses based at depots throughout West and North Yorkshire eventually.
Which includes the following areas: Leeds, Bradford, Halifax, Huddersfield and York. So each area wont be getting its individual liveries like Leeds City Link, Rideryork, Calderline and Bradford Traveller in the past.

Is this good news or bad news?. Obviously opinions will be divided, but the YR colours were rather dark, werent they?. I suppose it all depends on what shade of green is used on the final choice of livery, but if they do go for dark green, then i hope its balanced out with a fair amount of white or cream otherwise the end result may be a rather dull and austere looking bus. I personally am all for Firsts new policy of regionalised liveries, but i do wonder is going back to the past, the best way forward?.

The silver used on Firsts hybrids puts me in mind of the queens silver jubilee livery, which most fleets up and down the land had an example of in 1977.

Regular travellers want a bus to turn up on time and arrive on time, they already know the fastest routes and don't care if it red one day and green the next.

If First are going back to regional liveries it's ironic that they have started advertising as a bus group on TV using their pink and purple colours. if you haven't seen the advert... it is very poor.

I understand they will be regionalising the First Emblem, but using a common theme for the First part with a regionalised backdrop.
What Region means I really don't know, more details next week hopefully once the protype is completed.

I think a higher profile route branding would be more use to the public You hardly need a timetable if you are going for a Trent bus in Notts

I guess that's the only benefit of having a nearly all white livery is that coloured route branding is easier to apply. They couldn't really have Green or lime route branding after the re-paint.

Re-paint of the Gemini completed in three shades of Blue I understand, however is unlikely to see the light of day as is, since each side is slightly different to the other.
Decision time although I understand that a single deck and an older decker mybe an ALX400 will also be painted to ensure the new scheme is compatable with most of the fleet!

Well, Well, not green then, now blue. So we can assume the new colours wont be based on the old Yorkshire Rider livery.

I never said Green, other members introduced that colour although I never said it wasn't. I just said the person who told me had Green Paint on his brush at the time. What I didn't say was where he was and what he was painting at the time.
