Hello to all,
I realise that this is a tad early, but i just wanted to take this opportunity to say Happy New Year to both of the directors and all the drivers and their families at Yorkshire Buses.
Personally i wish them all the success in the world and really do admire the fact that they took the gamble to set up a small independant bus operation, especially in these current financially trying times.
I had the greatest of pleasure`s a couple of months ago to meet in person the youngest of the 2 directors and he sure is a very intelligent, generous and humerous bloke to spend time with. The other director i only had communication with via email but again came across as very patient, polite and very generous.
Its all very easy to sit at home and spend time posting negative things about different bus companies. I think its time for all the negative posters to simply take a breath and sit back and just consider what in pact some of the comments may have had on the folk doing their best to keep things running.
As for me personally i hope that they go from strenght to strenght and if i had a car i`d sure be applying for a driving role with them to get me off benefits.
Bryan.

Hi Jonny,
Thanks ever so much for your comment.
I did not realise that the 555 had become a seasonal service, it had always been a year round service all be it a variation to route between October and March where as it would serve the holiday camps ( Blue Dolphin etc ) during the summer and then go a different route via Lebbertson etc during the winter months.
Maybe Jack and Rosemary Stephenson and Paul Straker have decided to only run the service from now on during the spring/summer/autumn months?.

Hello to all,
So firstly i need to ask if Shoreline Suncruiser Buses are allowed to me mentioned on this forum as they are a North Yorkshire bus operator?.
Secondly if they are allowed to me mentioned on here i was just wondering if anyone who covers North Yorkshire operators happened to have any idea`s as to why Shoreline had decided to stop running the 555 Scarborough to Filer service from Saturday November 12th i think it was as i got a post on FaceBook from the company stating that 12th of November was last day of operation.
It was affectionatley known as the " Filey Flyer " as it was a basically direct route from Scarborough to Filey all be it calling in at Cayton Bay during the summer season.
So as always with me any information that anyone has will be gratefully received.
I actually had the pleasure a few years ago of spending time driving the 555 and the scenery once out of scarborough looking over the cliffs was just magical.
Cheers, Bryan.

Ok so i was told that their operating yard was somewhere along Queen Street which is close to First Direct Bank and between The 110 route and Hunslet road/ Low Road.
If i`ve got this wrong then i apologise.

Have to say that the white wrights single decker looks in good nick.
So does this mean that currently Yorkshire Buses has 2 double deckers and then 1 plaxton centro, 1 solo and 2 wright bodied single deckers?.
Also are there any photo`s of the buses anywhere?.
Cheers,
Bryan.

If my memory serves me correct isnt Pro Fleet based close to the jawbones?. Thats who carried out some of CT Plus`s maintenance/general repair work.

I sent an email Monday 3rd October to their office email address which i found on their Facebook page to enquire about the company and the shifts and my interest in joining them. I`ve not currently had a reply so they are either super mega busy or they are fully staffed.

Hi Dom,
Its good to get a reply from you with regards the new bus company. How do they cover all their work with just 2 buses?.

I wonder if the Solo will eventually be re painted to match the Wrights single decker bus?.
I am sure that i`ve seen an advert on Indeed from this company advertising for drivers due to the company having had recently been awarded a few new contracts. Also decent rates of pay for weekend driving too if its the same company ( Yorkshire Travel Group ). Apparently you get a smart uniform and your birthday off and you can do night shift.

I`m very curious now. If this new bus company only has an Optare Solo and a Wrights single decker in the fleet, it must only have either one school contract or one service route?.

Many thanks for that info Stephen, very much appreciated. I actually read somewhere that their depot was in the Hunslet/Stourton area, LS16 is mega miles from that area. Anyway i`ve sent an email to their office for more info about their operations.

Is this a brand new bus company?. Does anyone know where their depot is based and what service routes they have?.I saw a photo on Facebook of a wrights bodied single decker bus which had just apparently had a re paint and it looks brilliant. I wonder if they need drivers?.

Hello,
I`d like to ask if anyone can confirm that the Arriva bus service 186 which runs hourly currently past my house here in Altofts between Wakefield and Pontefract via Castleford is actually been withdrawn after 6pm?.
I have looked at the WY Metro website to check the new October timetable and it seems that there wont be any buses at all after 6pm, which means that anyone in the village of Altofts or round the Lee Brigg area wont have any public transport in the evening.
If anyone can confirm my enquiry i`d sure appreciate it.
Cheers,
Bryan.

When someone said that Globe had taken over Watersons, does that mean that the Watersons family have sold the company and retired?. And does this mean that the current Watersons fleet will be replaced?. I wonder if Globe will base the buses there that currently operate the newly aquired wakefield routes and the pontefract one too?.

Hello and good morning to all of you.
I`m posting this to ask if anyone happens to know if any of the Yorkshire bus operators have any 72 plate buses due to be delivered from September the 1st onwards?.
I look forward to any input that arrives my way.
Thanks, Bryan.

Well its a very sad outcome then for CT Plus Yorkshire. I can well remember being set on when the very first depot was set up at Wakefield in 2005 for the MYBUS project ( Metro ). There was Andrew Hammond, Shirley Wilkinson and myself and 3 other drivers and 4 BMC Condors and just 3 school runs. I was spare driver and learned the 3 routes and was basically on standby at the depot in case anything went belly up. While the 3 drivers were out doing their thing i used to wash and valet the spare Condor just in case it was needed and also 4 times a week i took it out for a road test. I have very happy memories of my 4 years there and still have some cups with the MYBUS logo on and some fridge magnets and a small teddy with a MYBUS tee shirt on.
While i`m logged in i want to wish all the drivers, admin staff, management, mechanics and depot operatives all the very best of luck in finding secure future employment.

So that`s Wakefield, Leed`s, Rotherham ( Powells ) and i think Huddersfield unless i`m mistaken?. If i`m mistaken then i`m more than happy to be corrected. Thank you.

Please can i ask if its the entire HCT company that`s going to close down or just the Yorkshire and Guernsey?. I know that HCT have operations in Manchester and Bristol and possibly other towns and cities. What i mean is is the whole HCT company going ( London Ash Grove etc ).

Good morning all,
Superb British weather for all the strikers again.
I`m sure i saw a list of bus companies and their current pay rates on this forum topic and wondered if anyone happened to know how much per hour Globe Holidays were currently paying?.
I may have mis read the list but it seemed that Ross Travel was the lowest rate per hour.

Does anyone know if there is a reason why CT Plus have either given up or lost the 485 service?. I`ve driven that route and its a really nice one.

Hello to all,
I`ve enjoyed reading about how the people on strike at the moment go about sorting food and drink and how they occupy themselves, i`ve never ever in a 30 year bus driving career gone on strike but they appear to be pretty chilled out.
Oh and the person on here who seems to have been deleted for expressing his views on Arriva management was actually talking about my current situation when he mentioned a forum member who has had his employment terminated for looking after his sick grandson.
I`m wondering if there will be a few less men striking today to spend time with their children if they have them due to it being Fathers day and a day for quality family time?.
Bryan.
