Hello rwilkes,
Really do hope this message finds you and your family well. I would be interested in the bus magazines if you would be happy to consider just selling those. I`m in Altofts which is between Normanton and Castleford here in West Yorkshire. I was just wondering where you were located?. Best wishes, Bryan.

Hello to everyone on here, I`m hoping that you and your families are all well and managing to enjoy the good weather...
So with regards to the Transdev buying of Yorkshire Tiger from Arriva Yorkshire i was simply wondering if there was a possibility of the new venture being called Transdev Tiger so as to incorporate both the new company whilst still retaining a part of the original company?.

Thanks ever so much for that info Stephen01..
Just out of interest would i be right to presume that the current social distance measure`s will still apply to this new temporary CT Plus venture?.
What i mean is that a plane can hold over 100 passengers dependant on the size of the plane, and so if a mid size single bus can only carry about 6 to 10 passengers then your going to need a shed load of buses to fill that plane, unless of course social distance applies to the plane as well...
Also is there any reason why someone who has an independant bus company cannot deal with the airport management direct and cut out the middleman ( Metro ).

So can bus companies just cover contracts on a short term basis?.
Wont CT Plus have to create a drivers rota for the LBA route and also lease or buy buses to run this?.
Wonder what Alex Hornby thinks about this unless of course he is in talks and friendly with the CT Plus management team at Leeds depot and also in London.
Wonder if they need any drivers for this very short contract?.

Hi there neukit,
Great to hear from you and thanks so much for taking the time to add input.
The only methods of contact with Yorkshire Coastliner seem to be either postal address, telephone number or the feedback section.
I actually need a persons E Mail address so as to be able to put my case forward to the powers at be.
I dont have any forms of social platform if thats what you call it nowadays as in i dont have facebook, twitter, instagram or any of the other forms of contact, i also dont have an internet phone i use my desktop computer.
So if anyone out there happens to have an up to date e mail address for anyone who`s employed by Yorkshire Coastliner or if anyone has Alex Hornby`s E Mail address then i`d sure appreciate the information.
Cheers, Bryan.

Hello and good evening to everyone.
Does anyone have the E Mail address to contact someone in the HR department at the bus company?.
To make things a tad clearer i`m wanting to contact someone at the Yorkshire Coastliner depot who may be able to put me in touch with someone in the HR department there.
Failing that does anyone know where i may find Alex Hornby`s contact E Mail address so as to be able to run my enquiry through him...Apparently he`s a real nice bloke...
Advice and input as always appreciated...
Bryan.

Hi there Arriva Wakefield,
Thanks ever so much for your input on my dilema, it sure is appreciated.
I don`t suppose you happen to know of any small independant operators who may be interested in hiring someone who wants to learn all aspects of running a bus company do you?
Cheers, Bryan.

Hello to all,
Not really sure if this post is in the correct place but here goes..
I`m looking forward to when the Dewsbury Bus Museum is able to continue with its running days which generally operate from the museum itself but sometimes split the occasion between the museum and a venue in Batley ( West Yorkshire ).
I`m currently an associate member of the museum and cannot wait till the current situation allows for the museum to operate at full normal speed.
Actually after carefull thought i`m not sure if i`m an enthusiast or a preservationist, either way all i know is that i`m passionate about buses but i do know that if finances allowed then i`d set up on my own as a proper small independant operator ( I`ve always wanted to run my own company ).
But back on topic yes it must be really frustrating for all the bus enthusiasts out there that are currently limited to what they do best.
I do hope that eventually you will all be able to enjoy getting back to your hobby..
Bryan.

Hi there wibble,
Good to hear from you again.
I dont suppose we happen to know of any bus operators who currently need shunters/cleaners do we?. I do have transport and i`m only a mile from junction 31 of the M62 so can easily access most towns/city`s and am pretty close to the M1 and A1 motorway network.

Hi there Wibble,
I cannot apologise enough for this late reply to your reply to my enquiry with regards driving buses and convictions.
So here is what i`ve found out so far.
Arriva and Firstbus and EYMS wont set me on till my DR10 has expired in 2024, Stagecoach would set me on but there are no vacancies. Southern Vectis wont ever set me on because i had the DR10 to start with and so their policy is to never ever set anyone on to drive one of their buses because they ended up with a DR10 in the 1st place.
Rosso bus is or had the same principal.
I`m kind of struggling here to get back driving buses...
If anyone knows of any bus company that would help me to get my CPC and then let me get back behind the wheel of a bus please let me know.
Many thanks, Bryan.

Just wanted to ask..
Didnt the Honley depot belong to K Line buses many years ago?.
All i know about K Line is that tragically the owner of that bus company a bloke called Paul passed away many years ago.

Sorry to be a pain,
I was just wondering who actually fines the person who doesnt wear the mask?.
What i mean is that if you try and get on a bus without a mask does the driver fine you and ask for your details to pass onto the relevant fine people? or if someone tries to board a train or even gets on the train and they are only one stop away and the conductor see`s them do they get fined?.
Or maybe its better/easier at the bus/train stations, as in that you wont be allowed to board the bus or train if you dont have a mask, but then again will you still be fined for trying to board the train/bus without the mask?.
The plot thickens...

Have Arriva Yorkshire re opened their Driver Training Department?.
Any thoughts/input?.
Thanks, Bryan.

Hello to all,
I just wanted to say how totally awesome it was today to see Ross Travel back out on service with their 125/144/146 routes.
I live in Altofts and the 125 and 146 go right past my house ( I live next to the very narrow give way railway bridge at the Whitwood end of the village ).
So i wanted to say a massive thanks to Pete Ross, Andrew Stirling, Paul Bullock, Steve Ross ( Engineering Director ), and the rest of the Ross Travel team for taking the leap of faith to resume their services..It cannot be easy but hey sometimes you`ve simply got to take a few steps back to go forward...
Best wishes to them all,
Bryan.

I wonder how many small family coach operators will manage to hold out with all this going on?.
I live about a 20 minite walk from the Shearings interchange at Normanton so i am guessing that now its closed?.
Do you think that Nat Ex and Megabus will survive?.

Hello there YR4006,
Just seen this thread and although its almost 2 years old ( It will be this December ) i would like to ask how i get to join the group?. I dont have Facebook, i`m only on this website and E Bay and Plenty Of Fish ( I`m a moderator on that one ).
I live in Altofts ( Between Normanton & Castleford ) and i`ve been informed that the White Rose Group is located just outside the village of Walton ( West Yorkshire ) just on the outskirts of Wakefield ( West Yorkshire ).
If you can help me out at all with my enquiry then i`d sure be gratefull.
I actually think the group last year took on board a double decker Alexander Royale in the livery of the old Huddersfield Corporation which is celebrating 125 years of bus transport in that town. The bus was previously in service with Connexions Buses at Tockwith ( Craig Temple and his wife are the CEO`s of the company ).
Anyway i`ll look forward to hopefully getting some feed back on this.
Best wishes, Bryan.

Hello to all,
Really do hope that everyone is safe and well.
I am sorry for posting this here but i wanted to ask if anyone reads threads in the Canteen section of this website?.
I posted a thread yesterday asking for help/advice on a topic thats bus related and had to place it there as there didnt seem anywhere suitable to post it on this Bus section of the site.
Maybe some of you would be good enough to go to the canteen section on here and have a glance at my post and maybe share your thoughts on the matter.
I really would appreciate all of your thoughts and input.
Many thanks, Bryan.

Hi to all,
My name is Bryan, i`m 48 years old and single and currently live in Altofts which is a small village between Normanton and Castleford here in West Yorkshire. I have my bus driving licence but dont have my bus driver CPC card as its expired.
I want to get back driving buses again as its a huge passion/hobby of mine and i`ve been involved in the bus/coach industry since 1992 but have been interested in buses since i was about 15 years old.
I`ve always wanted to run a few buses of my own but i simply don`t have the finances.
I figure that my plan B need`s to maybe be closley involved with a small independant company who will be happy to have someone on board who is happy/willing to be totally on board and undertake every aspect of the bus operation regardless of what that task may be.
My only problem with all this and the whole reason why Arriva Yorkshire or EYMS wont allow me to join them is due to a DR10 conviction code thats on my licence.
The DR10 conviction code is one of the lowest conviction codes which can be applied to your licence following your conviction through the courts for being tested above the legal limit via alcohol whilst driving.
So my DR10 was applied to my licence in June 2014, i was banned from driving in June 2013 and given a 17 month ban but i went on a driver awareness course in Hillsborough ( Sheffield ) which made things a tad easier by reducing the ban to 12 months, so i got my licence back on July 14th 2014. So my question is are there any bus companies that would consider me for driving duties if i was willing to pay for and attend my cpc course at my own expense?. My DR10 expires in July 2024. I`m currently un employed and so to try and raise the funds for the CPC will be difficult but i`m very determined and passionate to get back behind the wheel of a bus and do what i do best, to get folk where they need to be in a safe and timely and proffesional manner. If anyone happens to read this and feels they may be able to give me any help or advice then i`d sure be gratefull as i`m really struggling right now. Best wishes, Bryan.

Hi there Dennis,
Thanks ever so much for the screen shot with regards to CPC training.
I`m not actually a furloughed employee, i`m actually in reciept of ESA disability benefit but still have my PCV licence.
Do you think that it`ll only be the furlough folk who are allowed to take the online course?.
Cheers, Bryan.

Hello to everyone on here.
I am not sure if this is the right place to post this but i`m quite sure that i`ll be shot down in flames by the ones that know that my post is in the wrong place so hey i`ll post anyway and take my chances..Wish me luck!!!
So CPC training and the social distance issue.
Does anyone actually know when CPC training will resume and can CPC training be done with social distancing in place, what i mean is that can CPC training be done if only a certain amount of participants are allowed to take part?. I realise it will take longer to get folk through the courses but at least a trickle of folk who need their courses will actually get their modules done...
I need my full 35 hours so i am just curious/interested to see if anyone out there can help.
I really want to go back bus driving and already have my all types PCV/PSV licence, thats valid now till 2024, just need my CPC to put the icing on the cake as it were..
I look forward to any info/input on this enquiry.
Many thanks, Bryan.

Ok so CT Plus are going to run some of the TJ Walsh`s route`s from a set date.
Powell`s based at Hellaby are now owned by CT Plus...
I actually read on here that CT Plus had been lucky enough to be allowed to run some of the former TJ Walsh routes.
CT Plus has always been a small independant with HQ based in London ( Ash Grove ), Dia Powell is the CEO.
From what i gather from being involved with them at their early stages back in 2005 is that they build up their company via either tendering small amounts for all the bits and pieces of routes either early or late starts or they simply offer a lump sum to smaller companies that are struggling to operate.
CT Plus are a bigger company than most people think..never underestimate them...

Perhaps i need to get out more...

So TLC closed down their Huddersfield depot and TJ Walsh ceased trading and CT Plus are currently in full preparation to operate some of TLC`s and some of TJ`s routes or at least some of them.
Huddersfield and Halifax cannot be mega miles apart for one single operator to take the plunge and operate two different operator`s route`s.
