As it seems, the bus station will remain partially open from September 5th. There will be six bus stands still open and they are Stands: A2, A3, A4, A5, B1, B2 and B3. As it seems service 22 and 576 will remain with A2 as it says on the First forthcoming timetable for 576 and I pressume the 22 will stay also. Service 586/587 will leave from Stand B1.

There's been quite a of of comment on what's happening with the bus station in the September Service Change thread.
The 22 is staying in the bus station.

February 2022, the bus station will be completely be demolished for Phase 3. They might put some temporary bus stops elswhere or maybe start the Bus, Rail Interchange stops up outside the library for those routes. Also I believe the new bus station could be parshly completed by late 2022 for stands 01-09 and maybe head outside the emergency exit.

The next phase starts 27th February when the remainder of the current bus station including the shops and toilets will be demolished. A new temporary bus station has been built next to the Sion School facade at the bottom of the bus station (where A6 & A7 used to be) www.wymetro.com/media/7956/halifax-bus-station-a4-leaflet-phase-3-v9.pdfThere is a portacabin which will act as the travel centre, and South Pennine Community Transport will move to the former TJ Walsh 555 stand on Market Street

With talk on another thread about Optare Solos in Leeds bus station, I hope Metro have planned for this happening in Halifax when the bus station is complete. Mellor Stratas as well.

The combined authority page about the bus station mentions that it will have electric charging points. Could be a little hint!

Wait, the new temporary bus station does not have enough space for wheel forward buses, no wonder why the South Pennine buses were kicked out of the bus station. So does this mean the 22 will no longer see solos and that the working on a Sunday with 20/22 rotation will have to be a Versa, Commander, Volvo B7RLE or a double deckers?

No they will be able to as all the operators who will be using the bus station did risk assessment on Sunday. It looks like Stand E is going to be used for Solos & Stratas as the 574 & 577 as using that stand on an evening and they use Solos & Stratas.

So lets say Stands 1-10 are all conjested but a Solo or Mellor needs to drop of passengers what would it do then or is there a little drop off stand thing at the bottom outside the sunday school building or is that just a layover.

Looking to spend a couple of hours in Halifax soon. Where's the best place to stand to collect numbers these days?

Due to the closure of the majority of the bus station there isn’t a clear best location now, most services just touch the very edges of the town now, so you’ll have to relocate
Best for volume is probably on Commercial Street by the junction of George Street as that would get all Skircoat Road, King Cross Road, Pellon Lane & Illingworth/Ovenden/Mixenden services
The temporary bus station would get you obviously all the bus station services, none of which serve anywhere else but the bus station, but then if you are after the Mellors on Team Pennine routes, some of these only serve Wards End, so best checking the timetable and going over that way at appropriate times.

The junction outside the Halifax Building Society is probably the best place to spot as you have 542s and 587s coming down Fountain Street, buses arriving into town from Huddersfield, Elland or the Shay Stadium area as well as the buses heading to those places and the 20/21/532 arriving at Wards End terminating.

Seems that WYCA is in a mess at the minute. Some staff members seem to be stating that the bus station will open for use in early 2023, and some are saying Summer. A construction workers of Halifax Bus Station said on video that "the bus station will open in about eight months time" and the video was posted two months ago which means we are down to six months. Evidence of the video here and please skip to 4 minutes 28 seconds if you aren't interested in watching the rest of the video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mg2m-d5Fob0Also judging by how the construction is looking at the minute it looks like they will open for early 2023.

That’s describing corporate project management in general! Everyone is working to different timescales! You have the pessimist & the optimist, the official line, the plan & reality and you don't know which position the person telling you is taking which only needs a couple of weeks difference on finish date to produce what sound like quite big differences in opening time. The recent rebuild of St Margarets Bus Station in Leicester appeared to go pretty much to plan but at a relatively late moment was delayed by a couple of weeks due to last minute snagging of minor items and opened with some fittings still missing. Someone basing on things staying on plan right to the end may say early 2023 (which would encompass 6-months to April) whilst someone being a little pessimistic may allow for some last minute snagging delaying by a few weeks by saying Summer (which would be as early as late May/early June) which also means if it stays on time to the end it looks better from a PR sense.

Had a look at the construction lately and as of this Monday 13th March 2023, I have seen that the garden roof has been completed as well as the carriageway been done. What they are currently constructing is the pavement areas at the boarding bus bays which should probably be done in a couple of days before moving on to the inside.
Does anyone know where all the temporary bus station services will leave from as they need to close it down to complete the bus station?

What's to demolish it's just a tarmacked area the buildings are listed so they wont be getting knocked down.

The Sunday school brick building entrance will remain but the building structure part of the old bus station stands A6 and A7 will go. So it is more than tarmack.

That won't stop the new bus station opening though, all they need to do initially is just take the fence down
