The sheltered area in the temporary bus station is being knocked down. The Sunday school brick building entrance will remain but the building structure part of the old bus station stands A6 and A7 will go. So it is more than tarmack. Well why ask if you already know the answer The question I asked was where will the buses leave not what will happen to the temporary bus station.

Approaching Summer 2023, still no exact confirmed date of when the bus station will open.

Approaching Summer 2023, still no exact confirmed date of when the bus station will open. It’s only just spring! You are unlikely to get an exact opening date until much later in the project.

Allowing for other plans later in the year, I doubt I will see it this year if it opens much later than the beginning of August.

On my Google feed today was an article on the new new bus station. In the article it is claimed that provision for electric bus charging points has been included in the plans. I shall now sit back and wait for the unadultered comments on which electric buses are due for Halifax!!!!!!! BTW, forgot to say it was in the Halifax Courier.

A few vehicles did a test drive around the new Halifax Bus Station. AFAIK a National Express Coach and a BMC Condor.

Update: Permanent fencing around the sight is almost completed with the new traffic signals now in place. Also, I have noticed they have planted some trees.
Stand letters are now placed across each stand, with the bottom half being labelled A - H and then skipping I and J straight to K. Then the top half of the bus station features stand L - U. Stickers are now placed on the automatic doors with the red metro dots and labels saying "Automatic Doors."
The interior of the building now features brand-new seating with real-time passenger displays soon to come.
The traffic signalling has been redone with the path being extended to enable a one-way bus exit at the top of the bus station.
There is a bicycle rack also now installed next to the main entrance of the bus station.
With all these quick changes my prediction is that Stands L - U will open on 23rd July 2023 whereas the full thing will most likely open in August or September changes as they still need to get rid of the temporary bus station so that stands A - H/K can be used.

It will take stress of Market Street if it's one of the first few services to serve the bus station.

I'm disappointed the 502 is going to start from the new bus station.
At the moment it is just a short walk from the 521 522 523 terminus on Edward Street. I've noticed quite a bit more usage for 'local' Halifax journeys since more people became aware of it. This will be lost when it is moved.

It may be more inconvient for you but the route only runs hourly. That's an uncomfortable amount of time to wait outside, next to routes known to have problematic people. Waiting an hour in a comfortable, sheltered, and hopefully climate controlled building will bring far more success to the route. Especially with the amount of flagship and well used bus routes already currently using the bus station.

I was just observing that its higher visibility amongst others who 'could' use it had made it more popular. I don't use it very often myself!
It seems to make sense to have buses for the same area leave from a similar part of town.
Perhaps long-term the passengers waiting for the 521, 522 and 523 could wait in the opulence of the bus station too.

Postponed from July ,now middle of August for the first phase , the rest October. WYCA just doesn't like Halifax. Several projects put on hold for Halifax such as the new Leisure Centre, Railway station gateway and Salterhebble works. All of which were supposed to be completed by now. . I was looking forwards to the opening but I guess now we are going to have to wait longer. Late 2022, then spring 2023, summer 2023 and now autumn what a joke!
