It is now confirmed by Metro that the Halifax Bus Station won't be fully open from the 18th Feb, it's just that First bus will be squashing all there services into the new bus station, as 10 stands is more than enough for the current amount of buses. In terms of layovers, from observation, I have noticed that the carriageway is almost completed with only the stands not having a finished carriageway. So my theory is the buses will use the layovers to allow all current 10 stands to be used in service. Information at: www.wymetro.com/plan-a-journey/travel-news/bus-travel-alerts/halifaxbusstationworks/I hope they've started using it better. On my few trips to the new bus station, I've yet to catch a bus from the correct stand as there's been a service laying over in the one it should go from, despite the large numbers of stands allocated for layovers. Also in terms of layovers, there seems to be a mistake when making the new bus station as it doesn't contain the layover bays at the top from the proposals, which I think they should have included.

Once the full station is open isn't drop offs meant to be happening at the bottom (behind the layover area) meaning layovers at the top are not required?

Once the full station is open isn't drop offs meant to be happening at the bottom (behind the layover area) meaning layovers at the top are not required? Revised planning permission has gone in to change that, the bottom area near the old school facade is now going to be staff only, fenced off with code lock gates. It was perceived to be a security risk to have members of the public in this area distant from the main building when there are drivers carrying cash I assume some bays, like bay A, B etc on the bottom side will now be for alighting

My question is was Willmott Dixon finished last year, and is it someone else doing the carriageways? They were the primary contractor, so the entire project is up to them, even if they've got other contractors doing parts.

Just to clarify WY is bad because GM are tellling people about a bus station with a confirmed opening date and WY aren’t telling people because there isn’t a confirmed date.

Which is a shame, because Willmott Dixon are "slackers" half the time not doing their job and they have multiple days off for some reason. The bus station was supposed to be completed long time ago!

Do you have any evidence to back up your claim of them being 'slackers' ? Baring in mind the construction industry has staff shortages plus issues with supply chains there might be legitimate reasons why sometimes nobody is working. As i've said before, the delays to Halifax Bus Stn fall into the normal transport infrastructure delay window. Stockport just got lucky it was one of the few to stay on schedule. Also - it was Wilmmott Dixon who did Stockport: www.willmottdixon.co.uk/projects/stockport-interchange

At Halifax there's been constant inaccuracy where the workers have done something wrong constantly, seen them pulling the path apart just to redo it and the old Sunday school entrance now under scaffolding.

'Constant inaccuracies' because you saw them needing to redo a section of footpath? if they was redoing it, sounds to me like they wanted to make sure everything was to a high standard or as we know there's been slight changes since the first designs came out it could be connected to that. Have you thought of putting a Freedom Of Information request into the WYCA for the facts over all this? As it seems your just finger pointing with little evidence at the moment.

Now we can see the predicted running boards in BusTimes, First’s new AI schedules wouldn’t work without the bus station being open, as buses from different corridors are now interworking. You couldn’t have a 508 turning into a 579 if the 579 was still on Crown Street, and vice Versa.
It’s notable the only services they have left outside are the 537 run by Huddersfield and the 590/1/2 run by Todmorden
I’d suggest it was supposed to be fully open by now to tie in with the big timetable change, so they’ve had to do the best with what they’ve got.

In my opinion, the transfer of services into the station has been rushed and has come too soon. Whoever decided to put all except 4 services going from the town centre in the bus station is absolutely mad! Even more so when it's only half open with no layover meaning drivers just leave their bus on stand and cause other buses to go from other stops, my 681 last night went from Stand K due to layovers on it's own stand and a broken down team pennine solo. I think its been even worse with 501/x1 always occupying a stand or 2. The finished work of the bus station can't come soon enough!

Whilst I do agree that it was a silly decision squashing a lot more services into 10 stands, it is more than 4 services that don't serve the bus station. The Todmorden depot services and Team Pennine services (apart from 502 and Evenings or Sundays for 20, 22, 526, 536, 537, 562, 574 and 577) are still running from Town. I do think First bus jumped the gun, like Team Pennine did for the 502 last September as I believe the bus station was supposed to be fully done for the 18th February but like it was previously mentioned there has been countless delays. It may have been that First registered half of their services to have a route change to serve the bus station without realising that the project had been delayed further.

I understand it moved into the temporary bus station to address late running due to the extended route in the town centre. As it was only hourly it could easily fit. I also understand from a good source that First and others only found out the 18th Feb opening date was postponed in the week the registrations were to be submitted.

I Think he might of been basing it off something I said before about TP 'jumping the gun', as I said it regarding the fact they registered it to serve the bus station but then had to delay it a few weeks due to the 'Stage 1' opening being pushed back.

I’m not sure that’s the quote case. It was reg to serve the new Bus Station from July when it was planned to reopen but when this was delayed it was varied so as to serve the temporary bus station. It may be pedantic but operators make these changes to a timeline advised by Metro so they can give the required 42 days notice. The fact that things get undone- or in First’s case squeezed in reflect delays after the registration date.

Looks like a few problems they have ripped up the flags again on the top side this is the third time they have been laid, also the unopened bays have also had the curb stones ripped up where the bus stops to drop of.

It was pandemonium when I visited. Just like Bradford. Metro have been shameful with these two bus stations.

It is a pity that not all the bus station is open yet.
Maybe it's the design, but it looks to be covering a smaller area than the previous bus station on site did.
It doesn't even have a cafe, or at least not yet.

There is space for a cafe and a shop Interested to see what the newsagents will be, hopefully Ryans from the old bus station will be making a come back. It always had polite staff and great customer service! The Cafe is rumoured to be Greggs, I don't know how true that is though but it's a great assumption considering how the rest of West Yorkshire main bus stations all have on apart from Dewsbury and Pontefract.

Dewsbury is a few minutes walk from any cafe. In Pontefract the Wetherspoons The Broken Bridge is almost next door to the bus station. An appropriate name, as Pontefract is Latin for Broken Bridge.
