I'll give you a tip, I know some cafe and pub owners insist on only customers using toilets so nip around on foot to Wetherspoons as they don't object and it's a couple of minutes away from Crown Street with good opening hours, I use those and Sainsburys toilets each time I'm in Halifax. I have used Wetherspoon and Sainsbury's at Halifax too. It's just that Metro is using a poor excuse saying that there wasn't enough room. Stick an extra crate next to the Travel Centre and that could have been used as a toilet facility, there's more than enough space. The temporary bus station also were poorly planned. The gate where you enter the First Bus Office has an entrance on the other side from Wade Street which could have been used as a public entrance to allow people from the Bus Station to access town easier but instead the existing entrance makes them do a useless loop around the bottom of the site.

My biggest gripe is the 587, 590 and 591-2 starting from the top of the hill.
I’m sick and tired of having to drag my shopping up the hill to where I live at the top. I can do it but what about the less physically able?
And now we’ll have to wait more months while the services already using the station make use of the first tranche of new stands?

I agree it's annoying. Metro should have planned the construction better. I reckon if they would have just sent the 576, 681, 508, 255 etc. into the Town Centre and demolished the bus station as a whole without even considering 3 temporary bus stations the whole bus station would have been completed by now. Or maybe a different approach could have happened similar to Stockport Heaton Lane Bus Station where the temporary bus station is on a different site allowing full construction of the new bus station to take place. I reckon the old Mecca Bingo building would have been perfect as it hasn't been used for years.

Though it is of course next to the old bus station.

Let’s just say with your lack of patience, it’s a good job you are into buses rather than trains. I think Elland has been awaiting about 30 years for their station to open.

Let’s just say with your lack of patience, it’s a good job you are into buses rather than trains. I think Elland has been awaiting about 30 years for their station to open. There is room, around the Town Centre, plenty of empty stops including one at the Hornton Street Stop 5, Stop 30 on Northgate Goal Lane 29. Also WYCA is already planning on placing bus stops along Winding Road as part of the A629 Phase 2 scheme which would have offered some space, shall I go on? It's not a lack of patience at this point when they constantly baffled on about Summer 2023 without giving anyone any notice of the changes. For some reason despite other people agreeing with me you seem to have it out for me as you have complaint about my "lack of patience" in another post I made but replied to nobody else's. Think of the people with disabilities who have to carry their shopping up the hill. As I said I speak for a lot of people when I say this. As I already stated, several people feel less safe without a bus station at night hopping on street stops as back when we had a bus station their used to be staff that would patrol the area ensuring people were safe but now god knows what could happen to you as the streets of "Fax" aren't exactly safe! I wouldn't have been complaining if they opened when they were supposed to. It's clear you don't live in Halifax as you would understand the struggle if you clearly did!

Whilst people do have a right to be annoyed over the delays, surely it should of been expected. If you made a list of all the transport infrastructure built over the last 5-10 years in UK i would be shocked if more than 5 opened ontime.
The main cause of it is contractors bidding with a deadline too tight and the local authorities not putting into the contracts any proper penalties for overrunning.
Over having more routes into Halifax Town Centre, depending on current running times that might of meant more frequency reductions - take 681,what currently has 7 minutes layover in Halifax. Call it an extra 4-5 minutes to go into the Town Centre, so do you try to run on 2-3 minutes layover or reduce the frequency down to 35-40 minutes, as First wouldn't want to add an extra bus to the PVR.

Nah they would just make it on a really irregular, odd and random non rememberable frequency... Every 43 minutes.

Real-time departure boards are already turned on for some reason displaying all the temporary bus station bus station departures. Thought they would turn them on before the opening as it seems like a bit of a waste of their electricity bill!

It seems they have prioritised the infrequent bus routes which is a smarter move at the moment A little bit bummed more haven't been moved but hopefully it shouldn't be much longer until hopefully all end up in the bus station

The stands seem very underused - I don't know if they're being overcautious due to ongoing works, but it looks like: Stand K - Stand L - Stand M - Stand N - 3 per hour + 1 per day (currently two buses are both timed at 0750) Stand P - 3 per hour + 2 per day (C51, C52) Stand Q - 2 per hour + 4 per day (C14 C25 C78 S9) Stand R - 1 per hour Stand S - 1 per hour Stand T - 2 per hour (1 hour with 3 busses) Stand U - So only 12 buses an hour plus a handful of school services - there's at least one stand at Keighley with 6bph.

All they’ve done is move in the buses that use the temporary bus station pretty much, which is what we thought would happen
So they can demolish the temporary bus station and finish the bottom side

That's the thing I dont understand. There are ten stands plus layover bays located at the top of the carriageway why do they need four extra stands for layover plus spreading services far apart?

For those who have tried and tested the bus station, how is it? I imagine it would be something like Leeds, when it was under refurbishment, with chunks sectioned off and tones of construction noises

I imagine it would be something like Leeds, when it was under refurbishment, with chunks sectioned off and tones of construction noises I should be checking it out tomorrow! I would imagine so with construction noises but I am pretty sure that the construction will only remain outside now as they only need to do the carriage-way to the bottom 9 stands.

There is literally one at the top!

As it has not yet fully opened, I prefer to wait until it has fully reopened.
As I have other plans for the next couple of months and we then have short days, I doubt I shall see it until early next year now.

I still do feel like it's a let down, some hourly routes like 255, 502, 508 and 571 have their own stand and there are too many layover stands which could have allowed a few more routes to enter the bus station. Also I hope when the full thing reopens, the stands get a reshuffle as the old bus station had routes organized to leave from stands with easier access to the town Centre.
