Is this not going to just take passengers off the Coastliner services?

Is this not going to just take passengers off the Coastliner services? It does seem a bit odd - I could understand there being a market for both express and local buses along the route (although Transdev did try that only a few years ago and quickly gave it up as a bad job), but the logical thing would be for Coastliner to be the express service, surely? Unless maybe their stats show that the people who are travelling between points-west-of-York and the coast are not time-sensitive but value a service from their local stop, and the people who are time-sensitive from Leeds are mostly not going any further than York. That's a plausible business model, IF that's what the advert means.

If it's gonna be non stop, what would be the fastest way? A64 to Hazlewood, M1 to A63 East Leeds Link Road into Leeds, should take around 30-40 mins without traffic

If it's gonna be non stop, what would be the fastest way? A64 to Hazlewood, M1 to A63 East Leeds Link Road into Leeds, should take around 30-40 mins without traffic Optimistic timing ... Google reckons it's 39 minutes by car from York Station to Leeds Bus Station via ELLR (although oddly it's "41 minutes without traffic"), so given that you wouldn't be able to go as fast in a bus I wouldn't expect even off-peak journeys to be under 50 minutes between those two points, 45 at the absolute minimum. The morning peak X44 takes just over 1h20 to do that route, although that does include running via Copmanthorpe, Tadcaster and Woodlands, so you could knock 15 minutes or so off by missing those out. So up to about 1h05 in the peaks and 0h50 off-peak seems reasonable, depending on the stopping pattern within York. That compares favourably with up to 1h30 in the peaks and 1h05 off-peak on the current Coastliner route. Google puts the route via ELLR as less than 5 minutes quicker than sticking on A64 ... I don't know how the two compare at peak times as to whether there are greater savings to be made then ... and obviously the non-stop running will save a chunk of time as well.

If it is literally going to be non stop, it could go either way depending on traffic. Using the ELLR would give the impression of a faster service though. Also I expect it would probably run to Stonebow so you'd have to add more minutes on for that. I assume it will start in the early Spring, with decisions on the future of the Coastliner timetable being taken before the summer timetable starts? If they were to redistribute the resources at Malton by reducing to half hourly to Leeds, a full hourly service to Scarborough with no gaps, a hourly service to Whitby in the summer and maybe even more buses to Bridlington, would be a good way to attempt to grow the market.

Speaking to Transdev and the plan is for pick ups in Leeds/York then non-stop to the other end. Drivers will be able to choose the quickest route dependent on traffic conditions.

Plus the coaches (Nat Ex and Megabus) use this road to access the North from Leeds. Google maps points it out as being faster,

Won't be Zapping through Tadcaster given what happened to that bridge.

twitter.com/cityzapbus Why do they seem to be advertising it as though they'll be using Streetdecks? I thought they were using ex-36s?

First advertised some services in Leeds using E400s well before they were ordered for commonwealth games. Advertised the 617/618, 620/621 routes with E200s & E400s in Bradford as well at the same time and the only new buses we had since then have been Streetlites & Eclipse 2 B7RLEs

First advertised some services in Leeds using E400s well before they were ordered for commonwealth games. Same sort of thing happened recently with Go North East. The drawing of a bus in the publicity for the new 'Northern' branded route used a Gemini. Some thought this meant Gemini's were going to be used on the route. In reality it is because they have a Gemini picture on file, but the Scania deckers continue to operate the service as usual. Easter Sunday is 27th March this year by the way

First also do this advertise new buses and changing times with enviro200s which West Yorkshire don't even have. Probably what they had to use when designing the livery for Cityzip.

What is it that makes you think that this vehicle is for the Cityzap service. It could be parked for any reason.
