Does CityZap take 25 mins and run 6 times an hour? I think those factors come before a plug socket. That said I wish it well and see it definitely making money at night when the train frequency reduces, however, I see it full of loss making pensioners during the day With 4 buses per hour (2 CL, 2CZ) and if timed at exactly 15 apart at terminus it should work. Currently on the railway it is usually. **:11 NR to Leeds (via Harrogate) **;16 TPE to Liverpool Lime Street **:24 TPE to Manchester Airport **:27 NR to Blackpool North (via Leeds) **:45 XC to South West England **:53 TPE to Manchester Airport Confusing times. Pathing on the line out of York is one reason that their is no solid frequency. But if the bus is timetable to leave every 15 minutes it causes less confusion. I use the train, just as much as the bus to York. The bus I prefer as it gets right into York City Centre. Whilst the train if I'm off out in York during the night, as it still runs out throughout the night. I personally think it is an amazing idea and it is going to be a good success. Hopefully the team of staff and drivers will deliver fantastic service, and will create a '36' style legacy

By serving different parts of the city centre, particularly in York, the bus could compete in door-to-door journey time, and with fares about a third less than the train, I can see it having broad appeal to fare-paying passengers including those who currently use the train because they consider the Coastliner service to be too slow.

It is always good to have a choice of bus and train. For some trips it is always the train for me and others always the bus. But its good to be able to mix and match. If you know of a signal failure, get the bus, and a road crash take the train. You never know how good choice is until its Hobson's choice. Some rail advocates think competing buses should be banned, they do not know what is best for rail users and that is choice.

Some good points raised there. If it's 40 minutes end to end and kept at £8 return, it will lure some commuters for sure.

Sent from my D6603 using proboards They stopped using New Briggate a while ago, takes too much time for too little gain, except at peak times Coastliner leaves the bus station spins round the roundabout, back past the bus station and then left onto York Street.

Thanks for that. Remember we used to get off the bus at St John's centre and walk down the back to new Briggate to pick up the coastliner there. By then the bus would already be full. That was many years ago! Sent from my D6603 using proboards

Not impressed Alex! You cater for the Leeds scum but NOT fans of genuine football clubs, real football clubs, those who don't think following a mickey mouse weirdo owned football team is the best thing since sliced bread, e.g. me, a York City FC fan! FFS Alex, bring back that 10pm Leeds Coastliner departure!

Yet another rant from a member of this forum. Bring back the 10pm depature to cater for football supporters. I assume you only want it to run for home matches on the rare days that an evening match is played. How many people would use it. I bet you could count them on both hands. To run a service at that time of the day it would need to carry enough passengers to make it economically viable or or as a local authority contract and we all know that N Yorks CC are withdrawing subsidies from bus operators to,save money. Sorry but to run a service for a handful of football supporters is not a good idea.

A bus runs from York to Tad at 10pm so perhaps a trial for 3 months of extending this journey non stop to Leeds to form a late City Zap bus back from Leeds at 11pm Mon to Thurs calling in at Tad on the way could happen. Was expecting a real back lash from Leeds supporters, nice to know your concentrating your anger on Massimo.

There is not enough demand for a late bus Monday to Thursdays. At least they are running late buses Friday's and Saturdays, which is more than many do.
