What is it that makes you think that this vehicle is for the Cityzap service. It could be parked for any reason. That's why I used the word "could"; it may or may not but given its known that a number of those Geminis will be working it then its a fair likelihood as stated by the Flickrite who took the photo.

Coastliner have tweeted about a new fast bus from Tadcaster to York, not the City Zap as that is non-stop York to Leeds I wonder if that's a permanent plan or a temporary service between York and Taddy bus station while the bridge is closed ... if they are launching CityZap that misses out Tadcaster, it would seem an odd time to launch a new additional fast service between York and Tadcaster otherwise.

Latest tweet regarding Cityzap:
"7 weeks. Then the zapping begins. Leeds to York non-stop every 30 mins. Last bus 3am at weekends. #Leeds #York #Cityzap"

Hey does that mean late buses will run on Tue evenings from York back to Leeds, say around 10.10pm? Great for match nights if so! Saves me a packet on the expensive train fare meaning I can have an extra pie with me Bovril!

It's only Friday and Saturday nights unless they do an extra trip through week The late night services will only be on Friday and Saturday, but the last bus from Harrogate to Leeds is at 2220 throughout the week so it's entirely possible that CityZap will run to a similar last bus time rather than the slightly earlier finish that Coastliner has now ... we'll have to wait and see!

As they are running it from York that would sound quite likely to happen. The fact that Coastliner is run from Malton is always an issue currently, as a later bus from Leeds wouldn't get back to Malton until very late.

No timetable yet, but some early details about the timetable changes to Coastliner and introduction of Cityzip. It would appear that Coastliner and Cityzip will both run every 30 mins between York and Leeds with Cityzap non-stop between York and Leeds, meaning 4 buses per hour between the two cities. www.yorkbus.co.uk/news.jsp?newsID=1657

Even if they do manage to squeeze the timetable together so that the Coastliner buses aren't overtaken, it still makes them pretty pointless because they are so much slower than the CityZap. Obviously the Coastliner will still be useful for passengers travelling to/from Tadcaster and Copmanthorpe, and for those heading east of York there would be little advantage in getting the CityZap from Leeds and then changing in York, yes it might save you 5 or 10 minutes but it probably isn't worth it and it could be risky! ... but to say there is "a bus every 15 minutes between York and Leeds", as they have done, is disingenuous, bordering on dishonest.

The Cityzap product has been created very much with the customer in mind and based on solid customer research, so I take umbrage at us being accused of being disingenuous or dishonest. We are improving services, choice and the overall product offer between York and Leeds at the end of the day. We have to place the joint x15 headway somewhere and customer research indicated it would be preferred at the origin point, I imagine as people often prefer to "get going". Note that on Sundays both run hourly with joint x30 frequencies from origin points, and night journeys on Cityzap will call in at Tadcaster on request once Coastliner has gone to bed, so I believe the joint offering is laudable, based around research, and will be encouraged by flexible and integrated ticketing between the two products, although experience shows that people will probably single out either Cityzap or Coastliner based around their specific journey needs.

Personally I think Alex needs to be congratulated. At least he is spending money on new buses or refurbishments and is cleary trying new ideas to try and encourage/retain customers onto his services. Far too often we are seeing bus companies reducing frequencies, cutting late evening services and basically putting profit before customer service. I wish Alex all the best with these changes

Maybe slightly off topic but could a service from York to Castleford and Pontefract be possible which could connect with coastliner services. I have commuted to York before and found it to be expensive to drive and not a fan of being sat in traffic. There are houses being built left, right and centre at the moment and a service could give connections from York to Xscape, junction 32 outlet and five towns park in the future.

Don't get your problem? It's advertised as a bus every 15 minutes and they will depart every 15 minutes. What's the issue with one being faster than the other? Passengers not travelling end to end still have Coastliner services, those going end to end have a choice. It's no big deal.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not criticising the product, but I still think that claiming a 15-minute combined frequency is misleading. In just the same way that you have never counted the 770 in the "Leeds to Harrogate" frequency because it takes a longer route and so is inadvisable for passengers making that end-to-end journey ... and in just the same way that Northern Rail advertise the York–Harrogate–Leeds trains as "Burley Park" or "Poppleton" so that end-to-end passengers don't get on one by mistake ... passengers travelling between York and Leeds are not going to want to get on a Coastliner bus if it is overtaken en route. If you say "every 15 minutes", people are going to expect roughly a 15-minute headway along the route. I think it's great that you're trying something different, and the improved evening and Sunday timetable especially will be very welcome ... I wish you every success with it.

Have you seen the Utopia 422? This runs about every 2 hours between York and Pontefract ... they did try running it to Castleford and Xscape but that was less popular so it switched to Pontefract.

As I've previously said, if the combined service is x15 minutes Stonebow - Askham Bar then that's the main section to keep it a regular frequency, as I believe the only common stop in Leeds will be the Bus Station, as CityZap will be apparently running a loop round via City Square area, so that it may not be x15, but I doubt it would be much worse than 10/20 split.

Good to see the introduction of this service. For too long bus companies have played it safe with existing services despite the fact customers have changing requirements.
In my area arriva have introduced Max, but basically it is the existing route and timetable with no increase in frequency or reduction in journey times.
I wish the company all the best with cityzap. Hopefully your endeavour will prove to be a success.

I'm looking forward to CityZap. It's main competitor is the train. CityZap will have free wifi plug sockets (at every seat probably),better seating (probably) and a more than just railway station stops.
The train, has no wifi, plug sockets at tables (tpe) and is generally too busy. CityZap could really compete with this, and probably deliver a better service.

Does CityZap take 25 mins and run 6 times an hour? I think those factors come before a plug socket.
That said I wish it well and see it definitely making money at night when the train frequency reduces, however, I see it full of loss making pensioners during the day
