I am open to correction but I believe I have read somewhere that the resale value of a Borismaster at the end of it's life in London is NIL. They should last 40 years like the old ones.... Only because 90% of the time the bus was in reality less that 5 years old. Aldenham Works had a massive part to play in the longevity of most of the older London buses.

The article states that the vehicle broke down and earlier in the week another ran out of diesel. It would not require a suspended town down for lack of fuel. That type of tow would appear to be a bigger problem. Wouldn't it depend on where or when it ran out of fuel, it could be Stagecoaches policy to recover everything and fix it back at the depot. Was it actually know at the time it had only run out of fuel, I know what I would have done. Maybe only certain fitters trained on these buses, so if no trained fitter available to attend then vehicle is recovered.

When I was at Centrebus, a bus had a bus run out of fuel once and they weren't allowed to carry fuel in the van so it had to be recovered.

Isn't it recommended you only carry 1 20L jerry cans of fuel?
No law on it though.

First releases NBfWY results: First has released the results of its consultation concerning the possible introduction of New Routemaster (NRM)-based buses in West Yorkshire. It reports that public opinion of the idea – demonstrated using a pre-production NRM painted green and shown to stakeholders throughout the region last year – has been excellent, and that it will now work with manufacturer Wrightbus to produce what will be “a design illustration of what the new bus aspects of the proposal could be like based on public specification preferences.” The proposal for New Bus for West Yorkshire (NBfWY) is based on First’s wider strategy to improve bus services as a whole in partnership with the West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA). www.route-one.net/industry/first-releases-nbfwy-results/
