i would go for number 2, seems the most likely option. Cant think of any other reason why the FTR's would go off 4 and onto 72, due to reliability.

There's a picture on flickr of the new livery for the 72. Looks good, better than the current livery that's fallen into a sorry state on some vehicles!!!

Travelled on 19007 today and notice that the ftr logo and fleet number have been added in white at the front of the bus (interior) and on the horizontal bar that goes over the centre articulate piece, facing the back of the bus.
Nice touch.

According to this article, the StreetCars are to convert route 72 "at the end of October". If they were guaranteed in service by Saturday October 27th (the day before the clocks go back) I'd enjoy coming to Leeds then. Alas I fear they will enter service just 1 day later. www.busandcoach.com/newspage.aspx?id=7002&categoryid=0

Metro's Changing Times window for October is that weekend, so it'll be likely the new buses will be introduced on the Sunday (28 October) I have come to terms with the delay of several Leeds-area changes until well into October, including post-Olympics double-deckers for Kirkstall Road into October. I am therefore planning to come on the August Bank Holiday and next between February and May next year. Thank you for preparing me that the change to route 4 probably is now on October 28th like I thought.

Brainwave!! I could come to Bradford in November and ride an FTR from Bradford as far as Thornbury and then ride a 508 to Halifax. I reckon route 508 will get post-Olympics double-deckers as part of the Kirkstall Road bus lanes. It has been touted that others will go to routes 503 and 576, and I reckon others will convert routes X6 and X63. Meanwhile I should track down a TLC E200 in Bradford. After my Bradford/ Halifax trip last November, I am quietly confident of having enough time to ride all 3 afore-mentioned vehicle types by daylight.
I might just ride an FTR on route 4 this month to help me compare them before and after refurbishment.

Just seen 19011 in its new colours heading (presumably) from HP to Bramley, minus its wheel arches.

They are receiving new cummins engines in Newcastle, what is interesting is that 20 are to be done followed by 19 more from the "Leeds Area" which suggests all 39 are to be based in Leeds!
