heard today that tates have won further metro contracts starting end of jan, boss wont tell yet but understand they were previously awarded to arriva, let the battle of the two start again,or will common sense prevail this time round.or an intervention from OFT.

They mentioned something about trialling one when I went to Showbus with them.
They also said when I was there that ADL were not sorting the buses out & concentrating on Stagecoach's so Tates were angry so they trialled a Solo SR and the guy from Optare brought it into yard when ADL was there and ADL went mad, said like oh yes we'll get the problems sorted asap.

Does it have Allison gearbox then instead of Voith, sure Streetlites only came with Voith.

Good god i hate that gearbox in the Enviro 200/ Wright Streetlite. How loud do you want a bus. The Allisons of late are a great example of a gearbox

Looks like Tates have won the tenders for 128 205 212 and 213..... www.wyita.gov.uk/NR/rdonlyres/6802B854-33AE-443C-BF4D-A3D49E21BBFD/0/BSSC28NOVEMBER2012ITEM6AreaNetworkReviews.pdfArriva – operation of journeys on services 205, 209, 220,222,223,225,229,252,253,254,255,256 and 278. De minimis route enhancements on service 128 were also agreed. Total cost £1,081,495 Tate’s – operation of journeys on services 128,205,212 and 213. Total cost £120,152 2.5. In addition to the award of contracts above, it is proposed to enter into de minimis arrangements with TLC Travel for operation of a new service 259 at an estimated a cost of £66,201 p.a. The new 259 incorporates and extends the current MetroLocal 3 service currently under contract to TLC. This arrangement will address concerns expressed during the consultation process by people in the Hunsworth and Scholes, Foldings Estate areas regarding lost links to Cleckheaton following withdrawal of service 256. 2.6. It also proved possible to make changes to the original proposals to address concerns raised during consultation. Proposals for services 128, 202/203, 205, 253, 255, 256, 281/283, ML2, ML3 have been amended. Some of these changes will be for reviewed after the first year of operation to ensure they are demonstrating value for money. 2.7. Under this proposal very few services will pass between operators with, in almost all cases, the daytime operator also operating the service at times of low demand. This will reduce the impact and incidence of issues with transferability of operator day and season tickets. All the operators are equipped with smartcard enabled ticket machines. Arrangements are in hand with TLC and Tate’s to provide a feed of real time information from the services they operate.

Looks like with the 213, they bid nearly half the price that Arriva did!
