Malli, From what Ive seen Tate's have totally destroyed the Penistone network and people will not like this. I will give it a month before one of your 92s are involved in a crash between Naylors, Cawthorne and Penistone. Not running to Cubley or any other local community's will also after your takings.

YT03AYF dont think tates have destroyed the penistone or any other network, these are SYPTE contracts, timetables and routes are given to the operator its not tates choice, they get paid to operate the route SIMPLE. mrWEST YORKSHIRE BUS,dont think i have said it 20 times that tates are recruiting 20 drivers, ups thats now 21 times, this forum is so very boring.

To clarify, It looks to be only the section between Penistone and Holmfirth funded, the section from Penistone to Barnsley runs frequently (Stagecoach 20/A etc every 20 mins at least) so it'd be a safe bet to say that's commercial. Let's not attack Tates, they are after all bringing back a link from Barnsley to Clayton at their expense (can't see SYPTE or Metro funding a link that was cut in good times between these 2 points in the form of 235/6 and 95).

Ok, can we try and please keep the peace please! Whilst it would be impossible for everybody to agree/like everybody else. I can't exactly say the forum's boring, it can be quiet. I would much prefer it in this state where members were more amiable towards one another, rather than the constant bickering I have seen on other forums (unless I seem to chose the wrong topics to read!).

Don't know if it's me, but looking at the registrations for Tates is a bit confusing.
They have the 23/24 registered as going from Barnsley to Denby Dale when the current 23/24 go Stocksbridge or Penistone, while the 92 is going from Barnsley to Crow Edge via Cawthorne and Penistone. Is it possible that they've been mixed up and the 92 is one going to Denby Dale?
Guessing that the 25 is basically the current 20 between Holmfirth and Penistone, which means that Denby Dale gains another direct link to Barnsley but Holmfirth lose theirs, unless there's interworking at Penistone with services to Barnsley. Also, if Tates are running to Denby Dale, will Centrebus continue with the 85/85A on Wednesdays and Saturdays or will passengers have to connect at Denby Dale?

I also cannot understand the registrations from Tate's, The 92 route is confusing me and the 23/24 mean there will be no bus from Stocksbridge to Barnsley. I'm not sure but aren't Stagecoach still running the 20/21 with certain Timetable changes. The Stagecoach 20 could still connect Barnsley & Holmfirth. See below... Took me about 20 minutes to find this record.
PB0000092/120 - THE YORKSHIRE TRACTION CO LTD T/A STAGECOACH YORKSHIRE, UNIT 4, ELDON ARCADE, BARNSLEY, S70 2JP Variation Accepted: Operating between Barnsley Interchange and Penistone given service number 21/20 effective from 24-Jul-2011. To amend Timetable.

YT03 AYF, This isn't Tates fault atall, TSY put out the tender for the services and Tates won them, with the cut TSY is looking into how they can cut back and combined routes together with the first phase in July.

The only person on here who dont like Tates is YT03 AYF. If he dont like the expand, he can stuff it. It up to TSY who give the Tenders out and not Stagecoach / First or any other bus company in the area.

Weren't the 92/92A/93/93A/95/95A all Registered by Stagecoach ?

92 / 92A / 93 / 93A / 95 / 95A were Stagecoach to the end of Tender with PTE(Travel South Yorkshire), then it pass to Tates Travel, or stay to Stagecoach for other 3 years.
If Tates Travel go bust into the next three years, it might go back to Stagecoach.

Looks like Tates are still sorting out their timetables for their new services, as timetable changes have appeared on VOSA today, along with timetable changes for the 96/97:

The changes to the 96/97 registation could be only affecting the 18 which could be about to be withdrawn. Its was cut back to four trips weekdays some time ago. Intresting time ahead it would seem ?

Tates have a press release on their site from the other day, relating to the SYPTE contracts. It includes a brief list of routes that have been awarded: 23/23A Barnsley - Penistone (23) or Crow Edge (23A). 24 Barnsley - Denby Dale. 25/25A Penistone - Holmfirth. 72 Chapeltown - Manvers. 92/92A Barnsley - Crow Edge. 201 Chapeltown - Stocksbridge. 202 Barnsley - Broomhill. 203 Barnsley - Doncaster. 257 Deepcar - Holmfirth. 268 Hillsborough - Wharncliffe Side. Source: www.tates-travel.com/news_20.htmA bit out of the area but I take it the 201 will be replacing the 20A around Stocksbridge/Bolsterstone? Or could it be the 257? Either way, that's a link to a major town lost for Bolsterstone which at one point had an hourly link to Sheffield!

Source: www.tates-travel.com/news_20.htmAlso buried in the press release is that Tates will be withdrawing the 301 service from Penistone to Upper Denby, which is replaced by the 24. So, presumably, the 23 and 24 will complement each other and run between Barnsley and Penistone, with the 23 possibly changing into the 25 to Holmfirth and the 24 continuing to Denby Dale, which would be along the 301 route to Upper Denby and then either along the 83 route to Denby Dale Interchange or onto Barnsley Road and in via 85/85A route.
