Bout time, I got one of your Enviros today and it was just horride... Rattle Rattle Bang Bang. Mind you, Stagecoach ones arn't much better and V811DFV was the alturnative The Darts are V152 EFS & V163 EFS and were last used in the Welsh land with the sheep, Info came from a good friend of mine from Ebbw Vale.

Tate's Travel have modified Demonstation vehicle YX61EKO and as i understand it Norfolk Green who the vehicle has now passed to have had to spend two days putting the bus back together. I can confirm they have added there own logos and not removed them, They also fitted Accseration limmits.

yt03ayf,why would norfolk green spend two days putting a bus back together, that had been delivered back to plaxton for service and inspection by tates, before it went to the next operator. nothing wrong with fitting your own logos, but they should have removed them. what are accseration limmits? ?

I'm only putting what ive been told by a driver, Norfolk Green are a top operater and certainly want to get what they asked for, apperntly there not happy and thats not what ADL want with possible orderd on the line. Malli i'm not a bloody engineer but it limmits how much the bus does when the accserater is pushed, something to do with exhaust gas but no good when vehicles need to get going fast like they do in Norfolk Green land.

are you talking speed limiters ? If so these are set at the factory by ADL not by tates or any other operator.

Totally lost here but a few pointers. Simply put, the accelerator controls how much fuel is put into the engine to turn into power. The further the accelerator is pressed the more fuel gets combusted which equals how fast the vehicle will go. A speed limiter is a device which is set so that once a vehicle reaches the set speed (usually around 50 mph for a PCV) fuel is cut off to prevent the vehicle going over the set speed. 'Adblu' is an additive (that is put in a different tank to diesel) that is also injected into the combustion chamber (along with fuel) that helps to reduce emissions (exhaust gas) from the exhaust. Hopefully this should go someway towards explaining how an internal combustion engine works ! Penfold

Penfold Adblue is actually added to the exhaust gases after combustion in the exhaust filter to convert some of the nastier gases into something less nasty (know as SCR or Selective Catalyst Reduction). It is one of two ways manufacturers have of reducing emissions to meet Euro 4 or 5, the other is EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) where some of the gas from the exhaust is sent back into the combustion chamber to be 're-burnt' to break them down that way. For Euro 6 most manufacturers have found they need to use both EGR & SCR to meet the new limits (Iveco reckon they can do it on SCR alone but they are the only one).

Adblue is pig's urine.... It's not, there is a story that the origins are from sheep urine but the modern commercial stuff as used by operators is a chemical compound manufactured as such and has no connection with any form of animal waste products (according to the manufacturers). One of the early introducers of Adblue buses (Stagecoach Winchester) named the vehicles after famous sheep (Dolly, Shaun etc) after media reports about its source as a play on this with sheep vinyls on the buses but even then admitted that the stuff they used had no connection with sheep urine.

Adblue eats coats & Shoes, I certainly do not suggest you use it around clothes & shoes... Just worth pointing out. Its also worth while to check if its leaking into the cabin of a bus your sat on and not just presuming it was rain water.

It rots the paintwork on buses aswell, thats why when it gets filled up companies use a watering can to get rid of the excess around the cap (Except First)

Ad-Blu, is the biggest con-job going. It has no bearing what so-ever on noxious emission's expelled through an exhaust stack. I know this for a fact, because several vehicle's, where i work have been submitted for (And passed), the MOT with defective Ad-Blu systems. Some have had bunged up nozzle's or completely crystalized pipes in the Ad-Blu tank. All an MOT tester or VOSA,(On roadside checks) , look for, is the level of fluid in a tank, As it is an offence to to run with an empty tank on Ad-Blu(Euro 5) engine's. Whether the system work's or not is entirely irrelevant. Matty is right when he say's Ad-Blu is derived from pig-pee, As it was first developed by Mexican scientist's back in the late 80's, From swine urine, and as time has gone on, become the synthetic chemical fluid we all use today. At around 85p per litre, It's just another example of "Stealth Tax", to swell the coffer's of this government.

Crossroads Volvo charge 85p per Litre. Bulk buyers, who have it delivered, will pay substantially less. Still a con, though.
