Not sure which thread I read this - but Batch 502 is the Leeds First Group tendered group Evening / Sunday etc - we should be hearing things fairly soon!

Well considering Centrebus Leeds are getting 20 buses & a driver has said they have got the 60/1/2/3/3A routes it could be possible.

They've got the 60? Don't tell me Metro are having a stab at running a pointless and little used service up Burley/Hyde Park/Woodhouse again!

There is no 60 and the 61 is commercially run.

There is no 60 and the 61 is commercially run. Bet the 62 is commercially run as well as it seems well used. You have to wonder what's going on if Centrebus have got their hands on these services bearing in mind it's only the 63 and 63A plus possibly only the evening/sunday part of the 62 what's tendered.

All I heard is that First are giving up the 61/2/3/3A and giving them to Centrebus, I heard that off a driver. I may have been mistaken with the 60.

First do not give up commercial routes and 'give them' to other operators directly. It is probably canteen gossip being taken as gospel.

Why would anyone want to give up a commercially run route? I mean if they weren't making profit out of it, it would've been axed ages ago.

It might be a set of routes that First are not intrested in, like it might make very little profit or more likely people have recently stopped using the service due to fare increases.

Thinking about it, these routes have probably reached the limit of custom growth as housing stock around Cross Green/East End Park is gradually disapearing and the southern section of the 61 is covered by many routes to Leeds plus the 86. I bet First have come to the conclusion that it would be better to pump resources used on the 61/2 into other routes, and I bet they've also asked Metro if they can give up the tender for the evening/sunday 62, 63/A journeys. Maybe Metro have approached Centrebus and asked them if they're interested in running the commercial and tendered journeys on these routes.

950 lost by Godsons.
Is that 5 return journeys per day or one a day? If its 5 a day then can see why they've lost it.

More changes on VOSA, this time from First. Some timetables changes are probably the summer timetables, but the notable changes are the cancellation of the 8, 15, 31/32, 61 (as speculated), 757 and 781:
*Timetable: 33/33A, 38, 40/40A/49/50/50A, 51/55/X55, 62, 91/91A, 96, 508, 521/522/523, 579, X6, X11/X14, X84 *Route and Timetable: 63A, 66/67/80, 85/87/87A *Route, Stopping Places and Timetable: 5, 9, 42, 86, 90 *Cancellation: 8, 15, 31/32, 61, 757, 781

the cancellation of the 757 : *Timetable: 33/33A, Something going on there again. Maybe extending those short journeys from Yeadon to the Airport instead. Again this is speculation and am sure if they were, it would be with a new service number aka 33C or 33B. Changing times yet again

8 was the (or is) Metro tender for the evening and sundays wasnt it. Remember I posted a while back saying Black Prince ran it at those times while First/LeedsCityLink ran during the day. Maybe they are scrapping the route completly. I remember the days when the 8 & 9 ran the whole Ring Road 8 one way and 9 the other. Those were the days we went bus riding all day!!!

Maybe Extending and merging into one big route?? Seeing as it say routes amending. therefore the whole Ring Road served by 9 rather than the 2 splits (Seacroft-Pudsey vis White Rose and Seacroft - Pudsey via Horsforth). Only time will tell.

Many changes are often just minor times changes to improve reliability. Now they have accurate data from the YourNextBus system, this takes place much more frequently than in the past.

As its only a time change a guess what be short 33s as far as Yeadon replacing the First 757s.

Dont know if the 8 will merge into the 9, or its just the evening tenders for it.
Re Black Prince and evening work. The 770 used to be operated by BP in the 90s/00s, is it still tendered or do H&D operate it on a commercial basis?

Regarding the 8 (which doesn't run on an evening or Sundays), it's been under threat since December 2008 when First advised Metro of their plans to withdraw it completely with effect from the end of January 2009 service change window.
At that time there were an average of 260 passengers a day using the service between the Horsforth-Seacroft section including a number of school children and Metro agreed a financial package with First to enable it to continue. This was achieved by withdrawing poorly used trips from other tendered services.
There are quite a few people who depend on it to get them to work in the industrial area of Seacroft around Limewood/Coal Rd area and it will be a blow to them if it goes.
Having said that, the only journies that really do anything are the first couple of trips on a morning in each direction & likewise at the end of the day. Certainly the trips between 0900-1500 aren't giving value for money, all they do is pick up a couple at Seacroft Tesco and drop them off at Ramshead Drive! Then run quite often empty through a number of largely unpopulated areas such as Wetherby Rd - Shadwell and King lane - Lawnswood etc.
