As this new operation is in Kirklees & Calderdale, the name Kirkdale Bus Company looks logical, except that Kirkdale is in Liverpool.

I’ve heard a rumour that service 233 is to be extended to Barnsley to restore links there? Don’t know how much of this is true.

Anyhow Globe Holidays cover Denbydale to Barnsley with 94 & 94a routes. The other other Operator to do serve Denbydale to & from Barnsley is South Pennine CT with their route 353 from Holmfirth that runs 3 round trips a day on a Monday & Wednesday.

I can see there being some form of frequent bus link from Huddersfield to Barnsley via Denby Dale and other villages going forward as Barnsley is on the up with it's massive re-build. Not everyone will want to pay train fares if they can get a monthly pass cheaper on the bus even if it is half an hour or so longer, probably like me they'd see it as better spent on something they'd benefit from than in the pocket of transport companies. Not going off topic, but just to highlight my point look at Cross Gates in Leeds for example, it has a train station with fast links to Leeds, so too has Garforth, but they still both have umpteen buses an hour going into Leeds with plenty of through passengers, so fast doesn't necessarily attract everyone. Current bus services from Denby Dale and surrounding villages to Barnsley aren't really that adequate at present as Barnsley still has a lot going for it even though half the town isn't there lol. The swimming pool (Metrodome) attracts people as far away as Leeds would you believe, I know of several people who have visited it recently.

Hearing the same thing over and over about Transdev buying Arriva Selby depot and routes? Granted this is rumour as there’s not an official release but seem to be hearing this from drivers of both companies. Has anyone heard the same?

Didn't Arriva try to turn Selby into a Yorkshire Tiger operation a few years ago and instead the depot accepted a pay cut? So this would seem logical, especially with its position near existing York operations.

When Arriva get the 231/232 back in their main operation, Will First Huddersfield still operate their early morning and evening services on these routes you think or will Arriva take those over too?

I would have thought if Arriva were looking to sell the depot then they would have done so before spending a load of money upgrading the Geminis to Euro VI for the 415.

OK, I knew that First, Connexions and Reliance had had funding to upgrade their buses but I had forgotten that Arriva had as well, I just remember that they weren't doing the buses for the 42 as they can get away without.

When is Arriva likely to take over the 231/232?

When is Arriva likely to take over the 231/232? Probably once they've worked out an exact date for Transdev to take over Tiger - it'll probably (but might not be) the same day.

When is Arriva likely to take over the 231/232? Well the Next offical service changes is July so they may time it for then as right now Transdev have got a busy period starting this coming weekend with more Dalesbus routes starting and Cityzap, Coastliner & Castleline all increasing this weekend they'll be watching them as well as getting plans in place for Tiger routes/operations.

I'd suspect they'll be asking for a number that allows a bit of growth without having to make another application.

Pennine sounds like a good name for a bus company. Orange and black livery anyone? Save on repainting.

Now I know that Transdev want to distance themselves away from the grotty image of Yorkshire Tiger but Transdev have missed a trick as kids used to love the Tiger image on YT buses, especially the seats inside, just a pity Tiger didn't keep up that image and standards slipped. They could have called it Pennine Tiger, maybe have a local writer write a kids book based on a friendly Tiger living in the Pennine's, giving a number of printed books away as part of a launch campaign.
