Least they are starting somewhere until the service picks up when they realise they are charging £1 single and everyone carrying a timetable round with them.

A timetable like that gives the Impression that they don't know what they are doing. All operators start somwhere but few start like this lot have.

I did notice the other day that the 288 timetable has a massive gap in the afternoon after about 8 hours of hourly running. As my friend said they probably fit it in with the driver hours.

Its for the driver lunch break as he doesnt get a break either way til that time. He only gets a quick few mins f*g at quiet stops and sometimes ends up grabbing a bite to eat from sarnie shops along the way when running a lil late. Sent from my GT-N7100 using proboards

On the SGI Twitter following a question by (presumably) A1BYG they state they are carrying non-fare paying passengers on the 284. It's a good way of introducing passengers to the service - operate for free before the actual go-live date.
Also, with the timetable now on the Metro website you can see the route and times. The inbound service is routed along Long Causeway and past the markets before looping into the bus station.

Got to question which Is the 'inbound' route as the service is shown as Thornhill Edge to Dewsbury, therefore the run along Longcauseway (note, no separation in the street name) is outbound in my estimation. It mentions Thornhill Post Office in the timetable, but this should read Thornhill Lees Post Office, as the post office in Thornhill is only served by route 128/130.

Sgi buses have decided to pull away from the 288 as they cant compete against arriva on the same route. Their 284 is ever so popular that they are planning on going every 20 mins over time. Apart from the 284 they are registering "city links" rather than "townlinks". To compensate for the 288 they are looking at moving into leeds to compete against first and centrebus for the University custom. They using their their "low fares" and "free wifi" to get their custom. This will be interesting to see.

One of their silly little buses with a few seats running every 49 minutes against First & Centrebus running every few minutes up Otley Road really will be interesting to see!

Taken from their twitter page SGI CT acquires 2 X 2008 Plaxton Primos. These will replace existing buses serving the 284. This will increase passenger comfort. #sgitct

Where does he get his money from, how much does he have to spare and since he appears to like throwing it away does he want to give me any?

Has the 288 finished permanently now? The 1141 288 departure from Birstall was a no show at Dewsbury. And the 284 was about 20 mins late.
