What looked like one of Godson's Lynx's was involved in the replacement bus service between Shipley and Guiseley this morning due to the closure of the Wharfedale line at Baildon. It's not unusual to see one in Shipley on a school morning as they do run a school service in Baildon but this was coming out of the railway station.
In fact both of them may have been in Shipley together this morning as I saw one heading out of Shipley towards Thackley, presumably this was the schools operation. By the time I got down to the railway station twenty minutes later another Lynx was leaving the station as if on it's way to Ilkley. I suppose the original Lynx could have doubled back but I don't think it would have had time.
Also very unusual today was First Huddersfield Royale 30823 in Bradford on the 363, I guess it must have completely missed out the guided busway on Manchester Road.

I think First will up their investment in South Yorks soon, they're going to have to, I know investment has been scaled down of late but it will need to be upped. It certainly will the way Stagecoach are going, First are in danger of becoming a minor player down there.

This week Route One magazine has a two page interview with First's Northern Regional Director Dave Alexander. This mainly gives details of things which have happened but does also point to the future with initiatives such as smart media ticketing and hybrid trials for York in the next 18 months. www.route-one.net/e-books/currentIssue/index.html#/43/

LOCAL RESOURCE Including concessionary travel, overall we will make 28% savings from local transport revenue funding, in line with the wider revenue savings that the Department is making from its overall budget for transport.
Concessionary travel We are committed to protecting the England-wide concessionary travel scheme for older and disabled people. So while we have identified substantial efficiency savings in this area, they are focused on the way the scheme is administered, rather than on the benefits received.
Bus Service Operators Grant (BSOG) From 2012/13, DfT plans to make a reduction in the subsidy paid to bus operators by reducing the rate at which subsidy is paid by 20%. The incentives for smartcards, low carbon buses and automatic vehicle location will be maintained.
The current non-statutory arrangements that enable long distance coach operators to claim BSOG in return for offering a half price concession to older and disabled people will be ended by October 2011, although the industry may wish to continue to offer this on a commercial basis. This does not in any way affect the statutory national concession which offers free travel on local bus services throughout England.
We are considering options for the long-term future distribution of bus subsidy and will make an announcement in due course.

I thought 34046 was the only one that didn't make it to Bradford & was stored in Halifax for months? That's what I heard I reported 34046 arriving in Bradford back in July and you said... I had 34046 in Halifax, but it was parked up in Bradford Interchange all day on Friday so this may also have been transferred over to join 34045 and 34037 which are already there. All that batch haven't been in Halifax for at least 3 months now

Ah well, First Bradford will need to find another source to update their Solo fleet then.

Does anyone know if the Solo's currently used on the Todmorden/Hebden Bridge routes are Metro or First owned, Just wondering if I can expect six more Solo's turning up in Bradford to release some more of the current crop for cascade. Some folk on here would suggest that First have deliberately given up all of the Wharfdale/Calderdale routes so they can refresh the Bradford fleet, but not me!

Arriva's Mr Men buses are still little misses on the 268 today with a 254/5 branded Volvo B7RLE and 229 branded Spectra 717 both on this route today. Two Centrebus Solo's were in Bradford Interchange this morning, one of which was S629JRU which was operating route 15. www.flickr.com/photos/35759580@N03/5075953077/Also Dart 556 was on the 737/747's today.

I know a few people on here were planning to attend this rally today. Just wondered what you folks thought.
What was your star of the show, what did you think of the new venue and what was your favorite journey.
For me, bearing in mind the theme of this year's rally was coaching, my favorite was the Crosville Bristol RE coach TFM267K which looks great in the NBC dual purpose livery.
I like the Coach Street car park as a venue to maximise facilities and parking but did think that maybe it was still a little cramped. Maybe a solution would be to have the cars on display at Bolton Abbey railway station and the buses in Skipton.
Favorite journey has to be the run up to Bolton Abbey on former WYPYE 5003, a beautiful summers day and great scenery with the wind in what's left my hair, short of the sea this has to be what open top buses are created for.

What's happening with the Arriva Enviro 400's at the moment, the 268 seems to be getting all kinds of stuff at the moment, in the last week or so I've seen one of the Olympians, Presidents & Spectras along with the more usual misallocation of Volvo B7RLE's. Two of these were out today including 1100, which I don't know if it has been mentioned before, appears to have had it's 254/255 route branding removed.

K&D Mini Dart 779 (X579MBH) has been de-branded, and de-commissioned ready to be sent back to the leasing company. Seems Transdev have money to burn, what on earth was the point of putting this in the new Transdev in Keighley livery for five months, they've been running buses in non standard liveries all this year so leaving this in Starship colours for the summer wouldn't have mattered that much.

For those of you who use Buses magazine to keep your fleetlists up to date, First Bradford 31812 and 50285 have not been withdrawn yet as I have seen both of these out and about in the last week. In respect of 50285, it had been reported that the whole batch of 53101 to 53106 would be in Bradford. 53101,2,4 & 5 are in service and 53103 was in Bradford but appears to have disappeared again. I have seen no sign of 53106 despite watching out for this all month so maybe 50285 is still covering a problem with either one of these.
