More great thinking there by First on the X6, relegating the service to the X63. What about us Huddersfield people that use it end to end? So we now have to change at Bradford and it leaves us with nothing in the way of attractive bus travel between Huddersfield and LeEdstaston. I nearly 700 quid a year for a bus only Metro card looks like I'm going to have to start paying for the train as well now too. When is WY going to be free of First? "IF" First was to leave WY, I think you'd find that a lot of routes probably wouldn't be replaced!

Who the hell in their right minds would use the X6 from Huddersfield to Leeds. In addition, there are plenty of other buses from Huddersfield to Leeds although when the train takes 30 minutes, you would be mad to do it!

I agree with you but remember for some folk it may be more convenient to travel that way especially if you need to get a us at the start or end of your work when the X6 passes your house or place of work. Also train fares aren't that cheap compared by a Metro or First weekly or monthly ticket

Service 11 will be going up and down Torre Road between Woodpecker Junction and Lupton Avenue/ Iceland which isn't mentioned above First Schedules have put an alteration to the Traffic Commissioner today and have decided to keep it running on York Road and not Torre Road

None of those Arriva routes are particularly quick or direct though, it may be not true in reality, but the X6 gave the impression of being quicker and you felt you were actually getting somewhere due to running straight to Bradford then straight to Leeds, not turning off into villages and housing estates over and over again.

X6 is quicker to/from Leeds at approx 1hour 22 mins. 202, 203, take approx 1 hour 42mins. 220, takes approx 1 hour 47mins. 229, takes approx 1 hour 55mins. But, when I started on the buses in 2001, at AY, the 229 took approx 1 hour 30mins, to a slightly different route, that it does today, same as all the old 217, 219, 221's that worked the Huddersfield - Heckmondwike - Birstall - Leeds routes.

Both Arriva and the old Yorkshire Traction have over the years, trialled limited stop Huddersfield - Leeds services, Traction went via Mirfield, Dewsbury, White Rose, was it as X62. When I started at AY in 2001, there was a commuter Limited Stop X19 in the morning peak from Huddersfield.

It's probably a hard one, it depends on what proportion of the passengers are travelling through Bradford. Whilst it looks like they're maintaining a through fare, journey times may not be that longer as customers change from one frequent bus to another may roughly be the same time as the layover of the X6 at the Interchange. So the only inconvenience is physically having to change buses.
What customers you do lose from the lost through route, you will probably gain back from a more attractive frequency and simpler service pattern at both ends of the route.

With the 634 & 646 both being withdrawn, due to also being covered by those last minute contracts that were awarded to LOT & TLC last time, I wonder if this will mean all Solos will leave Bradford.

I can't see them getting rid of all the solos as they use them quite frequently on the 630 and on the 680 on a evening.

I would think the 646 is only being withdrawn because they need to replace the Solo's and there isn't enough value in the service to obtain replacements. It's always seemed to have decent numbers of passengers but probably not enough to warrant much investment.

In addition, there are plenty of other buses from Huddersfield to Leeds although when the train takes 30 minutes, you would be mad to do it! Who the hell in their right mind would buy a annual metrocard then pay again for the train? You must have far too much money mate if you could afford to the do that. Besides, the return fare between Leeds and Huddersfield is scandalous for such a short journey. I never understand why there isn't a quality high frequency, limited stop service between Huddersfield and Leeds. They seem to think that Bradford to Leeds warrants high frequency on two routes but Huddersfield warrants nothing.

Missing the point entirely. So you are seriously suggesting that someone would choose to buy an Annual Bus Only Metrocard to travel 1 hour 30 minutes extra (minimum) EVERY DAY on an unreliable bus service with a comparison of the train every 15 minutes, not as unreliable and also accountable to a regulator, unlike bus companies that can pretty much do the hell they want?
Or if its really that expensive, then MOVE!

Are you seriously saying people in this county have to move closer to where they work just because the greedy rail operators hold them to ransom with rip off fares? The whole of West Yorkshire and parts of South Yorkshire and East Lancashire should be available to all seeking work but with rip off rail fares nowadays then bus is the only affordable option. Why should people be told they can only work in an area, it feels like it with your reply, maybe you earn too much and are more than happy paying £7.10 for the cheapest day return fare from Leeds to Huddersfield but I can tell you in my right mind I'm not happy paying this and if I can't afford it, e.g.nearer pay day, then I take the bus! And before you start with your over paid Tory attitude then don't and learn to accept there are people out there who have better to do with their money than throw it away on a long tin can what will not save them that much extra time and is over crowded!

I won't resort to personal attacks like you have because you lost the argument. You know nothing about my life and nothing about me. Oh I voted Labour and pay a lot into this tax system and probably get less than most back in return.
Now tell me how much you donated to charity last year? How many fun runs you did? I wonder, whether it's easier to be a judgemental keyboard warrior instead.
As i said, the fares aren't that much more, you realise and should take these into account when you start costing in a commute.

23 mins on a train (and that's one that stops at Dewsbury) or 1 hour 40 mins on a bus. Yeah your right, very little difference!

I probably was a little harsh but my point was don't attack those who don't want to pay more than they have to or can afford to, you've got to admit yourself you were harsh when you stated 'if it's really that expensive then MOVE', what was the point in the Metro bus only tickets and First West Yorkshire day, week, month and annual tickets being created, obviously to help those who work in or need to visit other towns but can't afford train fares. Metro should push operators to provide more express bus services to attract more people off the dole and into work as one of the many reasons jobless people state they can't find work is 'there are no jobs round here and travelling elsewhere takes ages'. Let's get back on topic now I've clearly won the argument.

First Bradford running back to depôt out of service on the last from Haworth Road 621 & 636 Clayton. 1. These return on a slightly different route so these stops are no longer served. 2. They don't generally carry passengers but can be convenient for a late return to town. 3. The bus is there so why can't it be in service? 4. If it's off service at the terminus, why can't it run a bit later, after 11 pm ?

Years and years of austerity on the poorest in our society have took their toll (the Brexit result is one of the impacts of that). The irony is, subsidised bus services will now be decimated as cutting services is in the tories dna

I never understand why there isn't a quality high frequency, limited stop service between Huddersfield and Leeds. They seem to think that Bradford to Leeds warrants high frequency on two routes but Huddersfield warrants nothing. There is a quality, high-frequency, limited stop service between Huddersfield and Leeds. TPX run 5 trains an hour, some non-stop and some calling at Dewsbury only. While the need to accommodate half-hourly stopping trains along the same line means they aren't completely evenly spaced, the gaps between TPX trains are always less than 20 minutes. Given that TPX are running those trains anyway, why on earth would Northern want or need to duplicate the service?
