As a pudsey resident living on the 14/x14/x15 route this will at least give us a consistent service throughout the day so no more wondering which side of the road the bus will be on or which route it is going to go. However it's reliability is already dreadful and I can only see the new 14 been even less reliable as it will now have a longer route with a significantly increased journey time. Aren't we meant to be encouraging people onto buses ?

So basically the new 14 service is the reinstatement of the old 44 route between Swinnow and Leeds extended to serve Pudsey and run via Stanningley Road instead of Broad Lane. Talk about going back in time!
Guess this is the reason why the under used 2x Mon-Sat evening journeys on the 86A to Pudsey are been withdrawn. But it begs the question as to why first think people will use these 2 journeys when the section of route between Bramley and Rodley is already covered by the 16A whilst Sunday extension may provide handy.

The proposed 86A change is not First's decision but a change to Metro's tender for that service (but probably done in consultation with First). I'm speculating it would mean an end to the 16A variation. I think there are possibly other alterations to add to the list that will depend on tender outcomes. Some tender details are given by First in the link above, which may perhaps be where they were the only bidder and therefore Metro have confirmed, whilst other bids are still being evaluated.

So The Raynville route returns to Bramley Depot then after years off been worked from Hunslets depot.. It would also be interesting to see which depot runs the increased X6 and X11, if they both remained at Bradford that would be a PVR increase of about 5 buses. I fear the idea of the X6 being split at Bradford is becoming more likely. There wouldn't be enough 'express' street decks to do the current timetable plus these proposed extras.

They should cover the whole route but I wouldnt say I was worried about it being split... If first feel that there is demand for the Leeds-Bradford section to be every 10 mins then that's good, to me its competition against the train.

I don't know how much demand there is for through journeys on the X6. Bradford to Leeds, yeah, but there are other options for Leeds to Brighouse/Huddersfield for example, plus Bradford to Huddersfield also has X63/363.

There are no other options Leeds to Brighouse (except a train once an hour)
The only other option Leeds to Wyke/Bailiff Bridge is the 255 which takes much longer and is only once an hour.
None of the other options are operated by First, so if they split the service they'd be throwing away passengers.

None of the other options are operated by First, so if they split the service they'd be throwing away passengers. There are 2 trains per hour between Leeds and Brighouse, one via Halifax and one via Dewsbury. The logical option would be for the X6 to alternate between one journey operating Leeds-Bradford and the next doing the current route. That way the core section benefits from an increased frequency, whilst those who travel cross Bradford will still be able to do so without changing

Huddersfield needs a high frequency bus connection to Leeds. I tend to use it end to end as I have a bus only Metrocard but it is far too slow. I don't know why any company hasn't developed a high quality, high frequency limited stop service between Huddersfield and Leeds via the M62 as yet to attract drivers away from their cars. The train is rammed at rush hour between Leeds and Huddersfield, whereas its not ideal taking business of the train I'm not sure it would take that much but be busy just by its attractive journey time.

We lose seven fast buses in the morning peak (all X15's) based on the comments. We also lose the equivalent of 4-5 fast buses in the evening peak because the X14s become slower 14s and the X11 are currently the additional buses. It doubles back on to Swinnow Lane making the journey even longer serving nowhere new.

Looking at that, it seems that for the most part, the renumbering is logical (eg 705 becoming K5) but there's a couple i'm not sure what is being renumbered:
Obvious:
702/703 Braithwaite => K2/K3 705 Thwaites Brow => K5 706 Fell Lane => K6 710 Laycock => K1 717 Oakworth => K7 718 Asda => K8 719 Bracken Bank => K9 I'm presuming 721 Oxenhope will be K10
Not obvious is what is becoming K11 from the 500/664/665 listing, while i'm not sure why Greenhead HS is listed on the 705/K5 registration?

Could be 721. Sort of back to the future as the Keighley-West Yorkshire routes were unofficially K2 etc.
