Makes sense. Just wonder how they'll cope at rush hour...

Seems strange to move those Cadets from K Line just because they are already blue.
It looks like the idea of repaints is still off limits.

That's why i say and think it would have been more logical for the evolutions that are already equipped for airport shuttle duties to transfer to flying tiger (and 782 & 783 if they still have their racks in place) but it may also because the cadets may have tachographs on them so may get used on 747 duties.

I think it's also because they want a bus what can cope with the Airport runs, which can be quite intensive. Those Evoloutions were quite slow and the one which came back to Leeds seemed even slower than before it left! Did they re-body it with concrete and lead?

Did they re-body it with concrete and lead? 547 & 548 are BOTH painfully slow as they are alexander dennis chassis and were made around the time the MPDs were coming to end of production and when the e200 was been trialled. The best alexander dennis vehicles are the 2009 - 2012 e200 models.

If the Leeds-LBA route is intensive, why then do they not use 'deckers? They use them on the 100 in Edinburgh and cannot see that airport being any busier than LBA.

They have used deckers but the new depot can't take deckers, also the 757 buses have been advertised as having wi fi and furnished to a high standard which the deckers haven't been where as the ex K Line buses have these features. With regards to intensive running, quite often buses will have a long working schedule.

No racks in 782 or 783, just standard seating. And 747 doesn't use tachos. I believe colour and, as mentioned, the charging points and wifi were deciding factors in the cadets being moved over. Deckers are out of the question, as part of the contract the airport requested the routes be run by singles only.

Edinburgh's 100 carries a lot of local traffic as well, as it's the quickest route for commuters with smart cards from Gogarburn, Drum Brae, Zoo etc. Partially this is due to the 100 being excluded for DayTicket Validity (and CitySingle I believe), but included in the RidaCard scheme for period tickets.

Thanks for those pieces of information. I am surprised that Glasgow features as low as it does and I'd no idea the airport contract excluded double deckers.
