I know I am being a bit of a tease - but it is a while since I have been able to do that! No, it is not a new operator which is running a service in Leeds - but one which operates in another district within West Yorkshire. So, if it's an operator that operates within West Yorkshire but not in the Leeds area (although, not necessarily in the city centre), then we can rule out First, Centrebus, Arriva, Transdev, Tates, Stagecoach, Geldards, TLC, Sandla, Utopia, Eddie Brown and Connexionsbuses. That would only leave Community Transport Calderdale, HJC, JRT, Ladies Only Travel, Little Red, Longstaffs, M Travel, Poppletons, Red Line Buses, Ross Travel, Stotts, Stringers and TJ Walsh. Probably too far away for Rossendalebus and definitely won't be First Manchester. Guessing that K-Line will come under Centrebus.

M Travel operate a few school contracts in leeds, theres Arriva In Style from other side of Wetherby (unless you count wetherby as leeds)

I bet the real answer isn't half as interesting as some of these suggestions!

I could even take a punt on it being Little Red Bus on the Horsforth locals because they too have small buses and they seem to operate fairly isolated routes that don't interwork with a network in the Harrogate/Skipton areas (i.e the 71/78 up Skipton) so what's to stop them doing so in Leeds.

I bet the real answer isn't half as interesting as some of these suggestions! Indeed, its highly amusing. This sort of thing seems to turn the members on. Its a shame that 90% of the rest of year, the forum is dead. On a side note, which school routes do M Travel run in Leeds?

They aren't the ex-M Travel Spectras now operated by Squarepeg are they?
M Travel run some services around the edge of Leeds & Wakefield to Garforth College, Rodillian School, Royds School, Brigshaw High School. I don't know if any of them are technically Leeds school services though.

This is the sort of guessing that makes the forum interesting! SF07 has mentioned the company in his second list and I am talking about the Horsforth locals. Now what about the 8?

Square Peg have K306/7 FYG, 306 being in a dark green/cream livery (was blue), 307 being in M Travel and N387 OTY Ex Geldards East Lancs Citizen, in all over blue. I haven't seen any other M Travel liveried buses in Leeds for a while.

Having followed the route for about 3 years now, I know where it stops and doesn't and there is a lot less of the latter!

I know people are saying some suggestions are daft but the whole point of this review is cost cutting so unless they find a company with a small enough bus to run the Horsforth locals then buying a small bus just for a 2 hourly lightly used local daytime service wouldn't make sense!

Wouldn't whoever won the service bear that in mind when tendering and source the correct vehicles if they won. No operator should have a bus ready and waiting to take up a tender, besides spares.

Ladies Only Travel from Bradford have won the Horsforth tender, their presently run the Halifax to Norwood Green service 226, but First are the big winners with Centrebus the losers. The South Calderdale network up for review and renewal next summer(2014)could be very interesting indeed!

There is a certain amount of satisfaction when I have sparked some interest - yes it is 'Ladies Only Travel' for the 31/2 and good luck to them! Now again I ask - what about the 8?

Got a hunch that the 8 will curtail at Horsforth as time wise it follows the 9 more or less between Horsforth and Pudsey, either that or it'll be re-timed to form a half hourly service combined with the 9. Now this next thought may seem a wilder hunch but it is possible, I'm wondering if 1 journey on the 8 from either direction (most probably from the Seacroft direction as this would incur the shortest mileage) stops at Moortown roundabout then follows the current 781 to/from Otley then returns back to Moortown 2 hours later as the last set of WYITA papers did say they were considering keeping the 781 on Saturdays and/or market days and it appears to be well used from Moortown to Otley. Now I know this would leave a gap in the hourly number 8 service but maybe they're reducing it's frequency at times?
