10 B10BLEs from Bradford are going to be transfered to Halifax when Bradford receives new single deckers later this year,Huddersfield are also taking delivery of 10 new single decks as well,i don't quite believe Leeds are only getting 30 new vehicles, Firsts priority for growth is thes Metropolitan area. does Halifax need 10 more single deckers? - unless there converting the likes of Mixenden routes to full Single Decker.Huddersfield Getting 10 New single deckers, are you sure it isnt like last time huddersfield was getting new single deckers & it turned out to be the 2 ex-york 09 Eclipses. At least if we get 10 That should see The SPDs Indeed, new often means 'new to them' rather than brand new. Typically company spin as you can advertise more new buses than you are actually buying.

It would be nice to think Huddersfield and/or Halifax would be getting some new buses, As usually new stock goes to Leeds or Bradford and we get the cascades. No disrespect to any First employee on this forum, But what First tell you in their internal communications seems to be subject to change at the last minute.(My son-in-law has worked for First) for the past ten years as has my neighbour three doors down. Interestingly they saw it written in an internal First memo, that immediately following the olympics (last year),All step-entrance deckers in WY would be withdrawn and replaced by new or cascaded deckers from elsewhere. Has it happened??.

The number of step entrance buses in all day service seems to have actually gone up, particularly in Halifax due to most of the Darts being withdrawn

Talking of Halifax based Darts. I have travelled back to the Fatherland twice in the last month, and there appears to be a Marshall Dart over the pits at the Halifax end of Millwood Garage, that seems to be glued to the spot. Both times I passed were out of peak times (dinnertime). To be fair, First group in the case of Halifax, are only keeping up the tradition which started in 1974 with the creation of the PTE, any piece of junk you don't want, we'll not scrap it, we'll send it to Halifax. Don't anybody say it does not happen, because it always has, and quite clearly always will. Just out of interest, a date please when Halifax last received any new ( direct to them) vehicles. My guess is probably a couple of school buses around 2007. In which case, surely, there has been a long enough lapse of time to warrant some more. Mind you, it does not help when the more successful routes are transferred to another district, thus removing a sizeable chunk of your profitability in one fell swoop, and making the operation less sustainable to the write down costs of new buses. Finally, after my little rant, Andy 1 or any other First employees, any chance of getting a look at the First Propaganda, sorry I mean newsletter, on t'web. I have tried and not succeeded

Yes the transfer of the 576 along with the running down of the 508 can't have helped Halifax's financial performance.

What are you talking about? firstly 576 was transferred to Bradford to compensate for the loss of service 72 to Bramley depot Leeds, Bradford was always going to be a priority being a depot nearly 100% commercial mileage. Don't you think the bean counters at First will have taken into account the above, and the re-routing of the 508 a few years ago (for the record a much better route IMO) as it happens Halifax AND Todmorden are doing just fine.

Any more news on the allocation of the 30 Volvo Eclipses mentioned in this month's Buses? I do get the feeling these buses will be the last of their type. I will be pleased to see the underpowered ageing Dart SPDs at Huddersfied disappear!

The Eclipses are earmarked for Huddersfield & Bradford from what I have heard, Halifax are getting brand new buses next year and that has come from Giles Fearnley himself because we spoke to him at Sheffield and he said Halifax are in need of investment... so it will be April 2014 because that's when their year starts.

On that level, do Halifax & Huddersfield need new buses, the Gemini's and B7RLEs are newer than Bradford's Renowns!

Did he actually say the exact words "Halifax are getting brand new buses next year" ?

Arguably, Any depot which operates non-DDA compliant vehicle's should be a candidate "for investment".

Them renowns are lovely buses, I've never heard a driver say anything bad about them and if they were all refurbished inside they could have another 10 years out of them

They key there being 'if they were refurbished inside'!
If they had some replacement panels outside rather than just paint, they'd probably look better as well.

I have heard some of the new Eclipse 2,s at Huddersfield are to replace 32503-8 on the 363/X63. The displaced Gemini's will then see off the remaining Royale's there.

If they are going on the 301/302 Golcar circulars, they should have ordered the Max version instead.

Still need the double/single deck mix on 363/X63 but the Eclipse 2's in Huddersfield are welcome. The first brand new buses delivered to OFL since 2005. (Exclude the Yellow buses)
