To have a bendybus sat in the yard getting used maybe 10 times a year is a serious pointless, loss making exercise.

They could be used to train existing drivers onto bendibuses. 15 buses (plus a similar number also withdrawn in Manchester) could be used to train drivers to drive the very small number of bendibuses that First run. You need to proof read your ideas before posting them, instead of posting every single thought that comes into your head! Maybe First could convert the bendis to open top, and run them up and down Blackpool prom? ;D

Well it's an idea that's better than having them sat around doing nothing and using up space which could be required in future for storing other buses. They do need to do something with them, sell them for scrap and now, send them to depot's around the country who have bendi buses and use them for training purposes, use them on a suitable route somewhere nationally, I know it's costing them very little to store these buses but still First must love wasting money because that's what their doing having these bendi's stored doing nothing, after all would you pay a bomb for a car, use it for half it's useful life then store it away for years on end? Unless your keeping it for spare parts, or for it to eventually be classed as a classic car then you'd sell it, or make some other use with it. I doubt First are keeping these to show at bus rallies in years to come, and haven't seen many if any parts being used.

www.flickr.com/photos/20452054@N04/4022358915/i remember seeing this in Leeds in 1996. York sent one of the L113 striders to Aberdeen i think M401UUB and Leeds sent an N113 to York. Much better buses than the B10BLA's are the Mercs.

Saw one of these in Centre of Leeds today, it had stickers of pound coins dotted all along the bus advertising £1 fares. I'm sure theres a catch... "New Extra Short Hop! CBA walking 2 stops? Travel with First for a quid! Students only. Off Peak only. Valid only on the following dates..."

Looks rather nice but I agree that a LED destination blind would have made it look even better.

Posted for rst2010 with permission to upload. Interesting looking at the branding though with it only mentioning Universities to Headingley Arndale Centre. I take it that's where the £1 fare only applies? Unless that's the route the BOB is going to take?

All six of these were out today (10038/39/40/41/42/43), all liveried up and appeared to be in good health with students piling onto them!

Yes the £1 fare is available to everyone (not just students) and is valid from the Arndale centre to the university and vice versa.

Isn't the £1 fare the reduced £1.20 short hop, just extended slightly in this case?

Isn't the £1 fare the reduced £1.20 short hop, just extended slightly in this case? Is there a £1.20 fare? I thought it was the £1 short hop (1 fare stage) and then £1.90 or £2.20/£2.50 for crossing a boundary. I know there is also a £2 fare which is essentially a "double short hop". So the new £1 fare on the 95 is a reduction from £1.90 between Uni and Headingley, I think? Also, is this special fare available on the 1, 6, 28, 97 does anyone know?

The special £1 fare between the Arndale and university is only valid on the 95 and not on any of the other Headingley Ln services. But from what i've seen the students still seem happy to jump on the first bus which comes and pay £1.90.

But from what i've seen the students still seem happy to jump on the first bus which comes and pay £1.90. The new fares are still fairly new (no pun intended), people probably haven't realised yet. Unless bus adverts are as bold as the current full size 'Squares' adverts on some Geminis, Joe Public doesn't seem to notice. Have First actually advertised these changes anywhere other than on the sides of the bendi's? I personally haven't seen anything. I can't see First publicising this too much though, "Catch the next bus and we lose 90p in profit per journey!"

Up to about five years ago I would let a Firstbus pass and wait for a Keighley bus But First have improved so I do not discriminate. I have walked 10 miles to avoid using Pennine when I had to pay!
The Competition Commission is wrong - most people have a choice of cars, taxis, walking, cycling or making fewer trips. If bus companies ignore this they go bust. Only a small proportion of bus trips are distrees purchases as the jargon has it for hobson's choice
