Was on flickr earlier, came across the old Volvo Citybuses at Hecky. God they was ugly looking buses, think for me those has to be some of the most ugliest buses ever operated in West Yorkshire, they looked awful, and stuck out like a sore thumb! Much preferred the East Lanc Volvos that replaced them! Yes, you're right, they were ugly looking buses. 13 drivers, a fitter and Inspector went down to Kent one Saturday, to bring back 14 of them to replace Hecky's Leyland Olympians. They weren't liked by us in service, most leaked when it rained, passengers hated the 3 steps to board. With it being mid-engined, it was a little bit loud as most of the noise deafening material was nonexistent

When did the Leyland Lynxs get withdrawn, was it 2004? Arriva Yorkshire had only 8 brand new buses arrive between 2002 and 2006 in the shape of 495-499 and 260-262, but wasn't 260-262 for the 492/493 services, could be wrong on that score. I presume cutbacks also allowed the Lynxes to be withdrawn?

When did the Leyland Lynxs get withdrawn, was it 2004? Arriva Yorkshire had only 5 brand new buses arrive between 2002 and 2006 in the shape of 495-499. I presume cutbacks also allowed them to be withdrawn? the lynxes got withdrawn around 2002 as they new buses brought in were the low-floor Spectras for 110, X33 and ad-hoc at Cas. 495-499 replaced early renowns 406-409.

Just wondering because I saw some photos of AY Lynxes at Castleford on the net the other day and had the date for 2004 on them. I'll put a link further down the post. stephenpotter.smugmug.com/Onthebuses/Arrive-in-Castleford-Yorkshire

Just seen another photo of a Lynx, this time in mid 2005, so it appears they was still in the fleet much longer than I originally thought.

Think the ALXs was branded for one of York services, either 42 or 412/3 with the MPDs gaining 'Connexions' branding for the short lived feeder network of local routes to the York P&R sites, before Harrogate Coach Travel took the name for themselves.

I think some of the MPD's got branded for the Wakefield city routes in the mid 2000s. I see Arriva had quite a few different type of darts in the fleet in the mid 2000s
