Its a shame the same investments could not have been put into the service between Selby and Leeds... I’d like to see the Darwen’s maxed , they are the best looking buses in the fleet ! Wish dewsbury still had them! well 1800-1803(?4) are part way there been frequenta

I have heard that Arriva Yorkshire are looking at bringing all the 15xx Geminis & the 18xx Darwen B9TLs to Euro 6 standard.

The Darwens are some of the best in the AY Fleet. They only got refurbed last year for Posh And Decks for the 403 even though they still look like any other bus in the fleet. To be honest if they were to be refurbed into any of the newer liveries i guarantee Wakefield would just take the like they did with 1815 - Despite the current ones at Selby being "branded" for the 403 they seem to spend more time on other routes. All that seems to be on the 403's at the moment are Lowlanders... with a bit of luck those things will get cascaded to Yorkshire Tiger soon as its evident that they arent suitable for Selbys routes.... And it would appear that no other depot want anything to do with them..

Its a shame the same investments could not have been put into the service between Selby and Leeds... It looks harder to justify the investment though. With 1-2 trains per hour between Selby, South Milford, Micklefield, Garforth and Leeds, and the bus taking about 3 times as long as the train, even with fancy buses the 403 isn't going to be the transport of choice for most fare-paying passengers on that corridor. That they have cut the frequency from half-hourly to hourly shows there isn't a huge demand. Compare that with the 415, where the bus runs much more frequently than the train and doesn't take much longer, and the train doesn't call at any of the intermediate villages along the route - the 415 has much better prospects for capturing modal share, so that's where the investment goes.

They'll need to do something if they want to carry on running the 403 and 415! I don't know how many other routes into Leeds they are still running with Euro V and older, but they've only got another year to go.

I completely understand what you say about the 403 investment point. It will be interesting to see what Selby would do with the 403/415 with the restrictions.

I rode Sapphire 1504 last Friday (22nd). It looked better inside than the Sapphire Geminis in Cheshire for route 38.
