Here's one what Metro should consider for the day tripper summer service network.
Service number - 935
Route and stops - Wakefield Bus Stn, Westgate, non stop along A635 to Denby Dale stopping at White Heart only, non stop to New Mills (using 435/6 stop on main road opposite Post Office/shops), non stop to Holmfirth Bus Station then on along the Greenfield Road initially using bus stops until the moors are reached then stopping on a Hail and Ride basis until Greenfield is reached then on to Uppermill stopping at all bus stops until the centre of Uppermill. In addition, an annex to this route from Greenfield to Manchester (non stop) could run as well on a seperate day to the Uppermill service.
Timetable - One journey at 10.00am to Uppermill on Tuesday and Saturday during July and August school holidays running the same time period as other day tripper routes. The return journey would be 5.30pm. The Wakefield to Manchester service could run fortnightly on Wednesdays to see how it goes, setting off at 10am again but returning at 7pm to allow a full day in Manchester. If successful, maybe a weekly service could run next year. Saves passengers messing around going via Huddersfield or Leeds on the train.

Jim how long does it take you to create these?
Anyhow i'd like to re-route the 49 towards Monkswood from Easterley Road, down Oakwood Lane, turning right onto Wetherby Road and up to the junction with Easterley Road. Turning right then left then via normal route to Monkswood Gate.

Had to delete them since Friday mate whilst making some improvements, will post them again once they are complete. Nice changes to the 49 by the way, would be interesting to see some Scania OmniDekkas/citys or Enviro400s on there, although the Geminis are fine as well. Jim,

Cheers, I've always wondered why there was the 49 & 50 serving the length of Easterley Road, I just think Oakwood Lane has some potentional and isn't used by buses. It'd work i like to hope. Anything, i'm easy about the buses, keep Geminis on there for me.

Why the mixture of bus type? Wouldn't it be easier to have one type of double-deck and one type of single-deck? More logically E400 and E200/E300 respectfully considering they are the current favoured models of Stagecoach.
If they didn't want to invest they could use older B7TL/Trident Presidents/ALX400's but why Scania Omni's? Don't think Stagecoach have ever bought these models, and I don't think they have ever bought an artic' in recent years!
But I understand they are 'dream' routes...

Nice to bring a variety to leeds instead of a standard fleet. Personally i think first should of gone on the following:
Enviro 400 for Interurban quick routes (96,97,Blue/Red lines,16) B9TL for express or long interurban routes (X6,X84,56,50/50A) B7RLE for all.

Why is a Enviro400 (whether on a Trident 2 or Scania chassis...?) better suited for local services? And a B9TL for express routes?

Post by nick on Jul 18, 2009 21:48:00 GMT 1
I dont know, it just simply my opinion. B9TL looks (on gemini) better suited to Express and long routes, and not short stopping routes. Enviro 400 on the other hand looks like an interurban bus.

Ahh personal opinion on looks then?
I thoguht there was some sort of operational reason which determined the vehicles you chose!
Do you prefer the Scania N230UD or Trident 2 Enviro400?

i 'd like a better variety of buses operated in leeds. I would like to see stagecoach by Omnicity's/Plus i would like to see E400s whether on ADL or Scania Chassis. It wud be better than B9TL/Gemini,First have operated them on every overground route Now(including misallocations), so it is getting tiresome.

Can I ask why have you got a full Volvo B9TL Fleet, they are so boring... They are, but as each one is in a different livery they at least have a bit of variety to each one of them, unlike first. I suppose the B9TL is a good bus, bit boring now first have shoved it down every Yorkshire persons throat with out the an ounce of variety and unless you count the ALX400 but thats more of a satan bus ::)But having been on them on the X84 they are a good performer in my personal opinion
