Basically this is a thread where you can come and make dream routes up and what buses (Old Ones/Present Ones) will be allocated to the routes, frequencies will these routes have and which depots will operate these routes. You can use old depots or even make up any depot as long as it would be viable to be a depot (IE A Old Works Place or old depot even if it is in action it doesn’t matter). So For Example this is what I would do
Ilkley Depot (Mayfield Road) Routes- 956/957: Ilkley To Keighley (Present 762/765 Route) Optare Spectra Monday To Saturday Daytime-Every Half Hour(956 Hourly/957 Hourly) Evenings/Sundays-Every Hour
958: Ilkley To Grassington/Buckden (Present 74 Route) MCW Metrobus MK2 Monday To Saturdays-4 Journeys(2 To Buckden) Sundays-3 Journeys (1 To Buckden)
959: Ilkley To Leeds Park Row/Infirmary Street-Old 781 to Otley/Present 781 To Leeds MCW Metrobus MK2 Monday To Saturdays-5 Journeys A Day
960: Ikley To Bradford Interchange-Present 963 Route Optare Excel Monday to Saturday Every Hour-4 Journeys A Day Terminate At Shipley/Start At Shipley Evenings/Sundays Every Hour
961: Ikley to Middleton via Brook Street, Middleton Avenue, Denton Road, Langbar Road, Slates Lane, Curley Hill, Middleton Av then back to The Bus Station Optare Solo Monday to Saturday-Every Hour
962: Ikley to Herbes Circular-Present 961 Route Optare Solo Monday To Saturday-Every Hour
963: Ikley To Ben Rhydding Circular-Present 960 Route Optare Solo Monday To Saturday-Every Hour
Stops In Leeds And Bradford 959 Towards Leeds- L7/U5/R8-959 Towards Ilkley-F/V6/J1/L6 960 Towards Bradford-J5/W5/S7/INT-960 Towards Ilkley- INT/S4/W1
Fleet- Optare Solo/Optare Excel/MCW Metrobus MK2/Optare Spectra Routes- 7 Routes

Your MCW's on the 958 won't last the 1st day in service!!! They'll have there front dome's & maybe the roof smashed in by the very low trees on Bolton Road in Addingham. Be better to put a single deck on it.

How about combining the X84 & X32 routes together:-
Service X34 Skipton, Draughton, Addingham, Ilkley, Burly In Wharfedale, Otley, Bramhope, Leeds, Wooley Edge Services, Darton, Barnsley, Meadowhall & Sheffield. (Limited stop of course)
Also combine the X6 & 843 services:-
Service X43 Huddersfield, Brighouse, Baliff Bridge, Bradford, Stanningley, Leeds, Seacroft, Tadcaster, York, Malton, Seamer & Scarborough.
Now that would be a proper "White Rose Express" services!!!
Or even a roses link,
Service X62 Hull, Goole, Glasshoughton (For Freeport), Leeds, Huddersfield, Cheetham Hill, Manchester (Shudehill), Salford, Warrington, Liverpool.
As for a fleet .... Volvo Olympian DP's in Gold Rider livery.

484 Holmfirth - LeedsHourly Service Operator - Arriva Yorkshire - Belle Isle Depot Buses used - 1999 Daf DB250 Optare Spectras (Repainted into Interurban livery) From Holmfirth - Denby Dale - Clayton West - Wakefield - East Ardsley - Middleton Park Avenue (same as old 484 route) - THEN AS FOLLOWS: Middleton Park Road - Sharp Lane - Town Street - Belle Isle Road - Balm Road - Church Street - Low Road - Hunslet Road - Hunslet Lane - Great Wilson Street - Meadow Lane - Bridge End - Lower Briggate - Duncan Street - Vicar Lane - Eastgate - St. Peter's Street - Leeds City Bus Station. From Leeds City Bus Station via reverse of route to Holmfirth. The new 484 would replace the current 435 and 481 services. The John Charles Sports Centre would still be served, instead by the current 220 or 221 service, operated by Heckmondwike Depot. slight hitch, isn't the end of vicar lane a left turn only to go up eastgate?

You can't make a left turn onto Eastgate from Headrow coming from the Markets as I believe you may end up on the Headrow which it is when you turn left. However you can turn right into Eastgate from Vicar Lane as Cherry Row vehicles usually make a right turn running dead back to Garage from Corn Exchange.

Good job some of these ideas have been posted in here as I don't think some would work in reality. Just looking at the latter, is there sufficient passenger flows to justify the 666 route?

I would imagine none. Harehills and other Shi*e holes in leeds are more of hell, than those two paried up by who ever invented this service.

Is there actually some reasoning behind this ridiculous notion of a satanically numbered Tinshill to Sherburn direct link? I know it's the "dream routes" thread, but surely there still has to be an element of reason when constructing ideas!
|
|
|
Post by nick on Aug 12, 2008 14:31:36 GMT 1
There is no logical sense in connecting Sherbun with Tinshill, if it was otley, horsforth that would of made more sense.
Also the only people i see using it are Twirlers from Garforth, Colton, Shebrun and other placed to go into Cross gates. From cross gates it will virtually run 'dead' if you like to tinshill. I know this is DREAM not reality.
Mattr please please give us an explanation to this service.

Im liking the analytical review of the dream routes, making people explain why the route is viable, those that make the routes should come to us asif we're VOSA & Metro ha.
Well if you ask me i think the representation of hell on that route would be the top end, cos where im from (crossgates) is heaven in my eyes ;D

83: Manchester - Oldham - Halifax
Monday To Saturday Daytime: Hourly Sunday Daytime: Every 2 hours Operator: First Manchester (Oldham depot)/First Calderdale & Huddersfield (Halifax depot) Buses used: Volvo B7RLE
From Manchester Piccadilly as existing 83 route via Newton Heath, Failsworth, Hollinwood, Oldham, Moorside to Sholver then Denshaw, Rishworth, Ripponden, Sowerby Bridge, King Cross, Halifax Bus Station
Service would be replacement for former 562 route between Oldham and Halifax using the same principle of the 184 service between Huddersfield and Manchester

...predecessors of the 562 used to extend through to Manchester of course - 223 and X12. Would probably be popular now, amongst pensioners!

The 562 did run to Manchester on Saturdays for a time as well in the Yorkshire Rider days, like the 365 did from Huddersfield. It probably would be popular now with the OAP's and the free England bus passes, certainly do get a few on the 184.
Shame really cos I liked the 562 route but it did get badly underused within the Greater Manchester area towards the end of its service, as most people along Ripponden Road would catch the 83.

The return of the Peak bus 61A with ammendments. I would have it run from Leeds via Wakefield then non stop along the Denby Dale Road through to Holmfirth then as it's old route to Glossop where it would link with other services into the heart of the Peak District. Passengers from Huddersfield would be allowed discounted travel (The cost of getting to Holmfirth and back discounted) to compensate for the loss of the Huddersfield link. This was a popular service until the Glossop to Holmfirth/Huddersfield section got withdrawn.
