I think the priority will be to invest in the group's other fleets where they have fallen much further behind on fleet replacement. Arriva The Shires is due to get a substantial portion of the single deckers.

Which means some the of the earlier Scania low floors and B10s at Green Lane will have to go.

Hence new buses will continue to appear for the 110 in particular on a regular basis.

I don't know how many buses that will be released from London during tender renewals and losses will most likely go onto services that can't justify the capital investment in new vehicles.

There is no point in a 15yr rule. Many buses which are 15+ years can still go a decent job.

Long way to come from Liverpool I agree look at Arriva Yorkshire we have 3 N Volvo Olympians, T/V reg'd Spectra's, R Ikarus's all stepped..... even as much as the P---VUA's are Low Floor they don't match DDA Requirements as they have ramps.

I agree that buses over 15 years of age can still have plenty of life left and i'm sure that plenty of Solo's and B7RLE's around in a decade.

I've noticed older mum's just fold prams up & get the kids on, but young mum's always complain to drivers "Oh why do you have to bring these buses all the time" I had to get out of my pram to get on Fleetlines and Volvo Olympians, so why does everyone complain nowadays! I can understand about wheelchair passengers, but mum's that can't fold a pram up is beyond disbelief.

so why does everyone complain nowadays!. Because Low Floor vehicles are readily available? They're used to the easier option.

Ask a Mum with a pram or someone in a wheelchair, don't think they will agree with you That's an issue that's very specific to here-and-now. Ten years ago, it wasn't an issue. In ten years' time, it won't be an issue. It's only now that we have that major divide between 15+ year old buses that are step entrance and <12 year old buses that are low floor, with the few years between having some and some. But that's about pre-1996 and post-1998, not about +/- 15 years old.

Aye plenty of times ive been on a bus & its taken up to 10 mins in some cases for people to get the kids out of buggs fold it up & get buggy & kid onto bus as well as then giving the driver grief!
