First had presumably already planned and registered the changes to Black Prince services to come in on the agreed handover date. From what I remember a lot of drivers left BP in the run up to this, so presumably this or some other difficulty caused First to take the 88 over temporarily. They never registered it as their own route, their buses always displayed 'on hire to Black Prince' in the windscreen.

The 63 didn`t last long when First stopped it going to Drighlington.Arriva took it up on a use it or lose it basis.Needless to say a few months later it was dropped as it was deemed the people of Drighlington were not using it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't the 63 originally go from Halton Dial to Horsforth, then it was cut down so that it terminated at Headingley Eden Drive?

yeh i remember it, you can find some pictures of the 63 doing those journeys with Darts, if yu look at the yorkshire rider fotopic sites.
Does anyone remember the 70 Leeds-Wigton Moor , seemed like a direct replacement for the 48, only to be renumbered 47 lasted longer though, but then withdrawn.

The 99 route in Halifax was run by TJ Walsh for about 6 months (1999/2000) from Halifax - Highroad Well (circular) out via Warley Rd, i via Spring Hall Lane
The HJC group - I think only the X92 (Hospital-Hx-Tod) ran for about 2 months in 2003. The other 2 mentioned X21/X79 were possibly registered, but I don't recall them ever running. HJC have had an amazing and bewildering set of routes over the years and I have been trying to produce a list - but it is very difficult!

I do believe HJC briefly operated an extention of their x72 Leeds - Bradford route (did this run on to Halifax Mon to Fri?) to Walsden via Halifax on Saturdays with one return journey. This only lasted for a few months.

HJC did a brief 509 Todmorden - Leeds Bus Station and were run by MCW Metrobuses.

There was a range of wacky services which were registered and shown in timetables during that period (many services had very few journeys, certain days per week, some in one direction only etc). It is thought some of them never actually ran though
It was generally the end of Routemasters/start of the cream liveried Metrobuses during this period

It was the early 90s when the 63 did Horsforth - Halton Dial. It replaced the 75 and 77. 63 did Halton Dial - Leedsthen followed the 75/77 route to Horsforth. These were ran from Torre Road using MCW Metrobuses and when delivered allocated 3001-3006 L301-6PWR Volvo B6s. This was then reduced to Headingley Eden Drive - Halton Drive in either late 90's or early 2000's with Horsforth loop (via Low Lane, OldBall and Long Row) being replaced by todays 50 A with the 50 going up Broadgate Lane. I think the 50 is one of a few routes that have not had many changes in its lifetime. When I was born in 1980 the 50 was there and now in 2009 still there. Only difference is in 1980 it ran Horsforth (Halfway up Braodgate Lane) to Gipton. But kept the same number for at least 29 years and very little change to the route!!!!!

You can find a few services by trawling through the Bus Changes section of the West Yorkshire Buses website. Going back over the years, there were I knew leaving all those old pages online would come in useful one of these days First Halifax/Huddersfield ran services to Chester Zoo and Lightwater Valley during the summer school holidays a few years back, they never returned though

They used a Gemini at one point though.
I see Light Water Valley has been renamed according to the forum software!

The HJC list is very interesting - I'll add a few more of the early/rarer ones;-
46A Halifax - Hebden Bridge via Sowerby Bridge 1996-1999 their first route with BCP 671
43 Hebden Bridge - Sowerby Bridge - Elland - Huddersfield 1997/8
34 Sowerby - Halifax - Queensbury - Bradford 1998
44 Sowerby - Elland - Huddersfield 1998
44A Halifax - Sowerby 1998/9 (up to 30 mins frequency for a while)
48 Shelf - Halifax - Hebden Bridge 1998 Summer Sundays only 1998
59 Bradford - Halifax - Sowerby Bridge - Hebden Bridge via Kershaw Estate 1998
22 Halifax - Mount Tabor 1998-2001
342 Halifax - West End via ASDA 2004
This is not a complete list and remember there were numerous short workings. I think one of the most interesting was the 509 which ran from Tod-Leeds (year 2000) and one of the journeys started from Portsmouth making a journey of around 32 miles with a running time of 2:17.

The M60 was a good idea that wasn't particularly well advertised
It was also limited stop on leaving Halifax and probably should have gone via Sowerby Bridge and Rishworth

I believe at one point they did run a service from Halifax to Trafford Centre via Ripponden and Rishworth on Saturdays only as a 561 i think but don't remember it lasting very long.

The 561 to the Trafford Centre was the replacement for the M60, and yes, it didn't last long. Probably only a few months or so.

West Yorkshire Roadcar ran a 759 service between Keighley and Guiseley in the late 80s ran fom Keighley to Shipley via the 760 route and up to Wrose and Five Lane Ends I do not know what route it took between Five Lane Ends and Guiseley

I know it came into Guiseley via Oxford Rd so presumably after leaving Five Lane Ends and down Bank to Harrogate Road it would have gone via Apperley Bridge and Yeadon? Was it WYRCC, cos i was sure it was the early days of KDT?

In the Mirfield Dewsbury area the following servicews were all short lived:
206 Pudsey - Huddersfield 207 Leeds - Huddersfield 210 Leeds - Huddersfield 211 Leeds - Mirfield (then later Leeds - Huddersfield) 212 Batley - Huddersfield 222 Leeds - Huddersfield (almost same route as old 219) 272 Huddersfield - Mirfield X39 Dewsbury - Sheffield via Huddersfield 3?? K-Line ran a morning only service to Dewsbury via Mirfield for a very short time around 15 years ago. Can't remember the number in full.

Didn`t First do a shuttle bus to Bolton Abbey on Sundays one summer? I think it waited for the 33 in Ilkley bus station then took people to Bolton Abbey if they bought a special ticket on the 33. Don`t think it lasted more than one summer though.
