Without disrupting the quarter hourly frequency between Keighley and Eastburn, the other alternative if Keighley were to be interested would be to link it with the 64 and/or 72 (depending on how they are planning to work it when the frequencies increase) and possibly extend it to Silsden, thereby providing a direct (of sorts) service between Silsden and Skipton. Only issue could be the 78a serving Cononley village which Transdev were previously reluctant to do with big buses, so may need to be Solo or Sprinter operated? I would love to see a regular direct service between Silsden and Skipton, and tacking it onto the 78A is probably the best way of doing it (even if it does make for a much longer journey between the two), you should be able to do a round trip in 2 hours, and it would improve links between Silsden and Airedale Hospital as well. Transdev used to use a mini Dart on the 78A, so I'm sure that there wouldn't be any problem using a Solo or a Strata on it (and unlikely that there would be the demand to justify anything bigger), and they've got plenty of those in Keighley so it isn't as though it would be an odd-one-out. But wasn't the 72 regularly operated on eclipses and during Dalesbus times equivalent services along the route also using doubles (ie Arriva's 875 in 2020) The 72 usually has an Eclipse on Sundays, when it sticks to the main road – the rest of the week it runs through Hetton and Linton, and you'd struggle to get an Eclipse round those roads. Likewise, double-deckers on Sunday stick to the main roads and don't go under the low bridges on the side roads. When Transdev first took over the 72, they were often using an older Versa (which I think was a smaller model), which obviously could fit down those roads, but they decided it wasn't the ideal fit for the route.

Except that the timetable is designed to be operated by a single bus all day, so they aren't going to want to mess around swapping vehicles on and off the route.

We'll be introducing a brand new timetable on Coastliner - we'll still run every 30 minutes between Leeds, Tadcaster, York and Malton during the day, hourly to Pickering and Thornton-le-Dale and hourly to Scarborough - plus buses every 2 hours to Whitby.
Some early morning and evening buses which currently serve Malton will now finish at York, to best reflect the numbers of customers travelling, but we'll now be running an hour later from Malton to York in the evening.

Sounds like they're transferring (some) operations to Rawcliffe from Malton, meaning that the lightly loaded services that were effectively positioning moves at the start/end of the day are being dropped. The same old spin though ... "a brand new timetable" that, by the sounds of it, has exactly the same service pattern as the old one, but maybe just a but of extra running time to improve reliability.

I think a larger vehicle would fit round Hetton and Linton. May be worth testing but I can't see why they wouldn't. Larger vehicles used to work round there. Leyland Nationals (albeit short ones) and Leyland Lynxs were regulars in the olden days. You wouldn't fit a decker because of the low bridge near Hetton. Larger private preserved "heritage" vehicles do go round there from time to time to. I think the main issue with larger vehicles nowadays is at the Railway Station which gets very clogged up with taxis and parked cars. But even then rail replacement coaches pull up on the front at times. For the Aire Valley I was thinking you could get some good extra connectivity without much extra expense. The current 78A could be merged with a new service 70 in to a circular route. To avoid renumbering en route you could run each direction as a different route number. 78 would be Skipton - Bradley - Cononley - Crosshills - Airedale Hospital- Steeton - Silsden - Farnhill - Bradley - Skipton. Then run the other way round as a 70. You then have direct buses from all points to Airedale Hospital and Steeton & Silsden Station for rail connections, as well as a direct bus from Silsden to Skipton which often gets mentioned in local facebook groups. Whether you did it 2 hourly in each direction or hourly I don't know.

One thing about the extended and enhanced 11 though, will it prove popular or a waste as the current timetable is just two daytime only journeys to Tosside and three to Horton. The Horton late journeys on the previous 11 timetable were last cut because nobody used it and the last Slaidburn to Settle service got chopped at Tosside partly because Lancs council wern't willing to subsidise it south of Tosside, as well as North Yorks axing a number of journeys due to lack of use. The new timetable though does look to be replacing something on the Slaidburn to Clitheroe side however so maybe that'll be why Lancs Council are also subsidising it.

Announced in todays WYCA Transport Committee, service 60 will be extended to operate every 20 minutes across the full route Leeds to Keighley at some point in April it's like the plan is to look at extending the 60A through to Keighley.

Transdevs web sites are showing the new timetables for current services that are retained if you change the date to 8 April (or later). The improved timekeeping on Harrogates Route 1 is chiefly at the expense of a 1A working which has a gap of over a hour between c8 and c9 am with a short working to Knaresborough bus station instead - 0808 from Harrogate and 0845 return. The 6/X6 is now all a 6 The Coastliner timetable is showing 8 buses still starting service at Malton.

Looking at the 840/843 timetable, it looks to me like its a 50/50 split, 7 buses from Malton, 7 buses from York
Two buses swap over each night so there won't be a fixed allocation

No one seems to have mentioned the 59 from Harrogate to Skipton, which has been suspended. Will that ever return? Think it's just until the road reopening that whenever that is. We're so sorry to say that DalesBus 59 will be suspended after operation on Saturday, 16th March, until the reopening of the A59, which is currently closed for emergency repairs. We've seen very few people on board during the diversion period, and the diversion route will now be subject to further delays due to roadworks returning at Manor Park.

No one seems to have mentioned the 59 from Harrogate to Skipton, which has been suspended. Will that ever return? Transdev & Dalesbus have confirmed it will recommence operations when the road closure ends as the diversionary route is now unviable as there's roadworks just started on it.

No one seems to have mentioned the 59 from Harrogate to Skipton, which has been suspended. Will that ever return? Mentioned in the March service changes as yesterday was the last operation of it until the A59 reopens which is quite clear if you read their announcment and no need for your question www.transdevbus.co.uk/harrogate/59-taking-break-16-march

The clue is in the announcement - "very few people have been using it".
I suspect that it won't ever return. The road closure is just a good excuse to bring it to an end (again).
