Do what stagecoach do with there x17 to Matlock from Barnsley same bus put is the Barnsley to Sheffield is a separate trip as they allways have a 15 stop in Sheffield interchange before the Sheffield matlock section I believe the only reason that is a "separate trip" is to comply with driver's hours. It's the same bus operating the same route all the way and it's not split at Sheffield. The 36 at present already pauses in Hgte Bus Station for some time before continuing

Doesn't have to comply with EU Driving regs as it's separate trips they don't exceed 50km so can stay on GB Domestic.

You can always strive to be better but at the very moment it doesn't seem like any additional measures need to take place to improve reliability. I think statistics reflect that too since a super unreliable bus route definitely wouldn't double in usage. Not perfect, but obviously not disruptive enough for it to matter to the existing and new passengers.

If you think of the many timetable and frequency changes, and the numerous brand new bus fleets they've purchased, if they were planning to remove Ripon from the 36 they've had about a dozen opportunities and haven't done it, so its obviously not on the table

Trouble is with the 36 there are no proper alternatives unless you live inside the Ring Road in Leeds, or you live close to the stations in Pannal or Harrogate. If First were to make a serious effort on the 36 section North of the Ring Road as far as Alwoodley then you'd defo see it customers change to First, especially at peak times because cancellations don't get people to and from work etc. People up there really would prefer buses that ran rather than a quality bus that may not run when it's timetabled to.

Nice touch from them, more companies should do the same. I know Yorkshire Buses are doing the same as well

More vehicle problems for Starbeck contributing to cancellations. 3613 failed on Saturday and both todays B7RLEs on the X98/X99 were replaced by 2774 & 2775. With 3614 sidelined since 7 Sep the 36 was soley in the hands of the dedicated vehicles that are operational (not 3617, 3624 nor 3627)

The 36 has suffered massive style this evening (and probably all day) but what on earth can be done? A split is badly needed with the Ripon section maybe reduced in frequency to shore up the Leeds section as it got really bad this evening. I got to Alwoodley Gates after a long walk from work, 18 mins for a bus with the capacity showing as high (Harrogate schools going back home to North Leeds areas) so I knew I wouldn't get on it, The next was cancelled, the one after was showing as 37 mins and the one after that cancelled. I walked down to where the 7 stops and missed it, so found myself having to walk all the way down to Moortown. In that whole time, not one 36 passed me and when I got to Moortown that 36 that previously showed as 18 mins now showed as cancelled.

It seems to be getting better hardly any cancellations at all Harrogate today. A positive sign

How are all the companies doing shortage wise? A post in another thread just jogged my memory and made me realise I haven't experienced a cancellation (from First) in a good few months, or atleast not one from a lack of drivers.

Still get a few a week on the Coastliner/Harrogate services although the Coastliner ones are just as likely be due to vehicle shortages or break downs rather than drivers. With First Leeds from what I've seen most cancellations are due to extreme late running on the previous trip with either the driver running out of driving hours or going OOS back into the City Centre to make up time. I Have heard Arriva still seem to have problems around the Wakefield area especially on a evening with shortages.
