Another bad day today. 12 cancellations, half of those on the X98 alone. That's 26% of X98 services cancelled. They don't call it Sky Class anymore. The embarrassing (when it wasn't a Sky Class bus) "Welcome to Sky Class, this...... (pause for dramatic effect) is the X..... has gone. It just says "Welcome on Board" One step closer to your dream of operating dealership white Plaxton Primos (with Urban 90 seats of course) on it running at peak times only!

You do realise there is always valid reasons for cancellations, Transdev don't cancel buses on purpose you know! Think about poor drivers, who might have called sick last minute, buses stuck in roadworks, bus fault, buses breakdown like cars, and no time for a replacement, a passenger could be ill on a previous run, which could mean they require an ambulance. An accident with the bus, bus damaged. Bus vandalised ect. Bus had to be taken out of service, due to passenger been sick on bus.
Transdev don't do it on purpose, I'm pretty sure bus companies get fined for every service that doesn't run. Transdev, Stagecoach, First, ect all suffer from the same issues and have the same problems. Transdev are trying their very best like all of the other companies.

All operators are struggling - if you think Transdevs are bad then TrentBartons, for example, some days are horrendous. We are in the school holiday period and no doubt a number of Transdevs drivers are on leave and others will be unexpectedly off ill. Covid is still about and bus drivers are in the front line. Please grow up.

Over 1/4 of journies on 1 route being cancelled is really poor.

I'm not sure you can use covid as an excuse either. Over 1/4 of journies on 1 route being cancelled is really poor. Sickness levels are still much higher than was normal pre-2020. This is having an impact on most employers. Cancelling 1/4 journeys on a route that uses 4 buses means one bus not running. No, that's not great, and it would definitely be preferable if they were able to reinstate the missing diagram during the day ... but if they're down by one then is it better to have one route affected all day long or random journeys from a range of routes (probably leading to more cancellations overall as it won't be efficient to be running odd journeys here and there if diagrams are usually tailored around keeping a bus on the same route throughout the day.

Indeed, First are making some modest increases and Arriva increased their PVR with the introduction of the 165 back in July so why are Harrogate in particular struggling? In fairness to Transdev, cancellations at Keighley have significantly reduced, although they seem to have lowered their standards with some of the latest recruits.

I'm wondering if the cancellations today have anything to do with the incredibly busy bank holiday just gone, especially Leeds Fest and the railway strike affecting Coastliner and Harrogate. Maybe they drafted in drivers to work extra days over the weekend, and that's had a knock-on effect today? I know both Harrogate and Leeds bus stations were incredibly busy on Saturday in particular.

Does the fact that Arriva have introduced the 165 mean that there are no cancellations anywhere anymore?
Trent Barton are similar to Transdev in that they look to be struggling worse than anyone else in the area because they are the only ones telling anyone
Also it’s worth noting “another bad day today with 12 cancellations” could be a shortage of 1 person

So Cancellations still happen, with Arriva, but Arriva's app is awful so you cannot tell if its cancelled or not.

An obvious issue yesterday which may have contributed was the air traffic problem and just how many drivers were due back from leave yesterday were stranded abroad. Anyway today currently no cancellations by Harrogate.

7 cancellations today, including 2 on the 36.
The very same 36 that they are telling everyone is going back to an every 10 minutes service from Monday. Except it won't because they clearly don't have enough resources to do that.

Except it won't because they clearly don't have enough resources to do that. They have had enough drivers other days and no doubt had rostered enough for today. For those who think covid is no more two posters on another forum have both caught it in the last week - the previously published rate was 3.8% now the most recent is a falling rate but its obviously still about. Cancelling 2 36s is hardly a news item as you seem to think it is given how many there are in the day and it may have been contributable to a serious road accident (car running over a pedestrian) in Ripon which probably caused some significant delays. Please do a crossword or soemthing more postive than commenting on matters that do not actually affect you, is becoming a obession to you which a white vehicle with a flashing light on it may be appropriate.

Lucy's so hard on Transdev, I bet she would have demanded the bus which ran into the shop in Wetherby to have completed all it's remaining journeys lol. It's a pity Lucy doesn't live on the Hulleys Breezer route, you could imagine the on line arguments between her and Alf from Hulleys, that'd be like war lol.

7 cancellations probably just mean 2-3 Drivers out of action, hardly a big deal and not as bad as LucyP makes it out to be, those 2 drivers could have been suddenly ill and phoned up sick, always a valid reason.

Buses were late returning from Ripon due to the accident which was around the 140 degree turn the 36s take at the north end of Ripon city centre. The first 36 to encounter the road closure ended up running north out of the city and returning on the bypass to access the bus station so only following the final part of the 159/RS4 route which avoids the bypass. Possibly a tree clearance issue for a double decker. The following arrivals turned east before reaching the city centre on the B6265 to head north on the bypass. That would have resulted in an unanticipated accumilation of driving hours along with an impact on the frequency from Harrogate to Leeds, the availability of drivers and possibly a need to regulate the service.

Pretty sure derogatory comments against a company is against the forum rules but hey ignore that it’s fine. it is. I've flagged some of them and nothing been done Totally agree, noticed when people made derogatory comments against Yorkshire Tiger and Lady's Only Travel, they was quick to act on it.

It wouldn't be so bad if she'd have a debate about her rants but she'll rant, people will reply, addressing her points, and she largely ignores everyone except when she decides to insult them or tells them that they don't know what they're talking about. She may not break rules, but she's certainly very rude to other posters when she acknowledges their existence. Another forum has certainly given her warnings.

Except it won't because they clearly don't have enough resources to do that. To be fair, 2 cancellations on the 36 will probably go unnoticed considering the frequency of the service. If the roads are busy and buses are caught up in traffic cancelling a couple of journeys to get things back to normal is probably the best thing to do to keep the service running reliably. It's something that happens quite a lot on high frequency services, and happened often pre-covid too. Or it could just be that the driver of the cancelled 36 journeys were needed to keep a less frequent service running - it's better to wait an additional 10 minutes for a high frequency service to wait another hour for a rural/infrequent service. I do agree that increasing frequencies when you don't have the drivers is out of order - look at the X98/X99 saga. Taking on another service without the drivers to run existing services, though I think a lot of that was due to the previous CEO wanting to inflate his ego and be seen as the hero. Luckily now the people making the big decisions seem to be paying attention to regular passengers and adjusting the business to suit, albeit with limited resources.
