Why are the same posts being duplicated in two places again
Team Pennine is part of Transdev, that sub forum should be closed down.

I notice that Keighley Shuttle 1801 has recently been running exclusively on school services, in fact it hasn't worked the 662 since January 13th.
I thought it was one of those famous ticket machine swaps when I noticed it last week but I saw it in the flesh today on a Salts school run.
Anyone know if it's permanently part of the school bus allocation at Keighley now, or just temporarily loaned due to a reduction in PVR?
Maybe it's an indication of the future fate of these buses when the shuttle gets new buses as suggested in the near future.

Some of the Shuttle branded eclipses are actually based at the outstation where the school buses are kept so in a way makes sense for it to be on schools if it needs to be kept local

Five used to overnight at the outstation but all run from the main depot now.

Why don’t they use it !
Perhaps they have to be seen to trying different types to tick boxes for funding….

Hopefully not for long. It's too long for HGT bus station. It rattles inside from the roof area like an old bus. The paint/vinyl above the destination indicator is peeling off. The paint/vinyl on the left side mirror has so many bubbles it looks like a teenager with acne.
Inside, towards the rear, there is no view to the left because of the large space taken up by the powertrain/batteries.
And why are they even looking at a foreign made bus, when there are UK manufacturers and their workers in deprived areas, who would welcome the work as we enter a recession.

doubt they'll purchase them though as one of the managers tweeted yesterday that the BYD e400 can only do 175 miles a day whereas each bus for the 36 do 275 miles a day so falls short by 100 miles.

That kind of shortfall is going to be pretty much universal for electric buses, particularly for double-deckers and especially on interurban bus workings like this, so if Transdev are intending to buy electrics for the 36 it is likely they are going to have to work on the basis of swapping buses off in Harrogate during the day for a top-up charge requiring a couple of extra buses to the normal requirement. As I understand from reports the Optares list a lower range, the Wright model is claiming slightly more & the BYD/ADL is fairly average in the middle. Even the best claimed ranges for single-deckers would struggle to comfortably reach a 275 mile range and they have better battery capacity than a double-decker can reach.

The BYD E400 does had a opportunity charge option,so if they installed extra chargers at Harrogate Bus Station plus one in Leeds that could solve the problem (not sure if North Yorks would be allowed to use some of the funding towards a charger in Leeds, with it being outside their area)

The Electroliner does 200 miles. Unsure of the BZL. They can't get Metrodeckers aa that's only available as Dual-door.

The Electroliner on the other hand is more ideal as it does 200 miles.

After its stint at Keighley, Mercedes Demonstrator MB21 BUS should be heading over to Flyer for trials there. Going by an Alex Hornby tweet today, it appears that the 662 will be receiving new buses reasonably soon.
I had a ride on the Demo today and was thoroughly impressed. The journey I took was rammed with passengers and the vehicle handled it without any issues. The only fault was on the operational side of things (the bus was running very late, as were a lot of the journeys).
