Second Park and Ride site is granted Planning Permission. Planning permission has been granted for an £8.5m 1000-space park-and-ride site in Leeds. The site on Temple Green Road, which lies within the Aire Valley Enterprise Zone, will be the city's second park-and ride scheme. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-29279071Hmm, Kings Lane, Elland Road, Temple Green Road. I make that three park and ride sites.

They don't class king lane as a fully fledged p&r as it doesn't have a dedicated bus service (or ticketing scheme?)

King lane, park and ride was set up with the introduction of Superbus and the Scott hall road guided busway in 1995. I suppose now it's an extra parking space, set up for picking up 7,7A, X7 and the 51. It's a good thing that metro are seating up the park and ride, j45 m1 near Cross Green, could get traffic from the M1, from both The south and the North/North east.

The BBC have updated their story to mention Kings Lane.

Seeing as no-one had said owt since this. What ever happened to the Enviro400s that was meant to have gone on to the park and ride as there was pics of what the livery would look like too. Has this fallen through and sticking to the 3 green Geminis that are on there now?

GazWilson I assumed the Enviros due for park and ride we're going to be the commonwealth games 33873-90. these buses came months after park and ride opening. when the commonwealth games finished, these were due allocation for Bramley instead.

Original reports on here was that 3 x 10metre Enviro400's had been ordered which were on top of the 33873-890 commonwealth games batch. Well, that was pure speculation and there's no evidence in the Alexander-Dennis body number orders that these were ever even on order.

There's gaps in the first fleet system where fleet numbers 33891-94 can be used (4 buses, enough for the Leeds park and ride).
Would even match nicely as 33895 onwards are first Hampshires park and ride enviro 400s.

Surely though, what's the point of ordering new buses, when the ones placed on there 'temporarily' are not required for their previous duties again, and are obviously suitable for the contract.

It seems no need too, the the three Gemini's 36276-78 are euro 5. Plus aren't allocated to a specific route and over the route. Hunslet park doesn't have a demand for new buses. Anyways what are loadings like for the PR1 around peak time Everytime I've seen it near empty, though this is around the middle of the day.

There are a lot more people using this service, however, they are all commuters meaning that buses are busy in the morning and in the evening but virtually no one uses them during the day.
As the 51/52 cover the same route and operate every 10 minutes it would be practical to suspend the PR1 from 10.30am until 2.30pm each day and divert the 51/52 services into the park and ride stop. It would save £000's in fuel and wages and prevent the pointless exercise of transporting fresh air around for hours each day.
Leeds P+R sites are only ever going to be used for commuters during the week unlike sites at York, Scarborough, Chester etc. that have a high number of tourists.

An item on the BBC this morning quoted that over 45,000 journeys had been using the Elland Road P&R since it open last July.
It went on to say that plans are being drawn up to provide a further 400 parking places there, plus another site designed to provide over 1,000 spaces.

This looks to be the article which was being referred to by the BBC: The council says more than 45,000 people have so used the service, with over 350 cars parked most weekdays – and that it is drawing up plans to upgrade the overspill area to provide a further 400 spaces to the same high quality specification. The council’s PR machine has today issued a press release saying the scheme has ‘exceeded expectations in less than a year of operation’. www.southleedslife.com/elland-road-park-and-ride-plans-to-upgrade-overspill/

Yes because it's the traditional Saturday service in West Yorkshire on a Good Friday.
It's not open on Saturday though as LUFC are at home or on Monday as it's a Sunday service and the P&R doesn't run on Sundays.

Used the Park and Ride in Leeds today and the ticket machine displayed "not in use" on both journeys so we were issued with a ticket from a pad. Reason given on asking the driver-ticket machines are not programmed to work on Sundays and bank holidays. Unbelievable but apparently true

Unbelievable but apparently true Bet someones messed up setting the running boards up for today, prior to upload to the machines, and there's no PR1 boards in that file.
