First may have fallen out of love with Volvo, but the liason with Wrightbus continue's, as the bulk of the 2014/5 order is for over 300 Streetlite's (the majority being Hybrid). The total order is for 425 buses which include's some E200's and 40 E400's, which would be good to see in West Yorkshire, on Leeds park & ride or not.

That and less glass means the interior stays cooler in warm weather. They did the same with the upper deck windows on the Borismaster. As said above, the B5LH hybrid continues, while the straight diesel will be a B5TL using the new 5 litre unit, while, surprisingly, the B7RLE will be replaced by a B8RLE. Hopefully will sound as good as the B10BLE The new B8RLE has a 280bhp engine, compared to the new B5TL which has a 240bhp engine, so on paper (at least), It could be a wee beastie.

Quite. Just seems an odd decision to go from 7 to 8 litres on a single deck, but down from 9 to 5 litres for the double deck. I just hope the engine noise is better from the new 5 litre unit. The B9TL sounds horrid.

Been various mentions in articles, the original plan was for the standard diesel double decker offering to be the B8TL, then a few operators requested they fit th 5 litre engine instead.

I read that the B8TL is meant to be a 3 axle replacement for the B9TL like the ones in Hong Kong. Might end up like the Super Olympian B10TL, not being in UK operation.

Volvo missed an opportunity for another best seller not offering the Super Olympian B10TL to the UK, instead they initially offered a B7L, then the B7TL two/three years later

The proposed livery for the park and ride buses does look like a 2014 version of (Barbie 2)

Quite. Just seems an odd decision to go from 7 to 8 litres on a single deck, but down from 9 to 5 litres for the double deck. I just hope the engine noise is better from the new 5 litre unit. The B9TL sounds horrid. My first thought was maybe that double-deckers may be more often used in urban environments where the 5-litre engine will be sufficient, whereas single-deckers may be more often used on interurban routes where they will benefit from the extra power. But thinking about buses round here, that doesn't stack up at all – East Yorkshire X46, Arriva 415, Arriva NE X93 and Transdev 36, Coastliner, Witch Way and Lancashire Way all use double-deckers on high-profile interurban routes where being shortchanged on oomph is going to be really noticeable. (After another ride in one of Arriva's god-awful Presidents on the 415 this evening (5 hours after I got home and I'm just starting to get some feeling back in my bum, christonabike those seats are atrocious), the lack of power when turning right onto the A19 at Riccall actually felt dangerous – that is the kind of context that many of these routes are operating on as a matter of course) I wonder if there are problems with double-deckers having too much power, and it's being limited to give a steadier ride for passengers upstairs? You would think there could be a good argument for allowing operators to buy both the single- and double-decker with either the 5- or 8-litre engine, to fit whatever the requirements of the route are. Hmmm, another thought – maybe the combination of the double-decker body and the 8-litre engine would fail Euro VI, so in order to meet emissions regulations they can only offer the big shell with the puny engine. Somehow my suspicious mind thinks I might have cracked it...

Just seen proposals for another Park and Ride site at Cross Green, just off the M1. Another contract for First?

It is good that they are doing a proper park and ride close to the city centre. There is a proposed new site to be built at Kirkstall Forge when the station and retail park is built in the next couple of years. Thing with Elland Road's E400s, if First do what they do best, they'll end up on X84s Dewsbury Roads and who knows where

I have seen news about them proposing one at Cross Green, off the M1. But haven't for Kirkstall. The thing about with park and rides, they can't be too close to the city centre, as they cause way too much congestion. Hence why Elland Road is a perfect site, with easy motorway access.

Elland Road Park & Ride is scheduled to open on the 23rd June. do we know for sure that the E400s will be here in time? Or that they are even going to be used on the Park & Ride at all? Maybe Hunslet Park will repaint a few of the Olympics Geminis.
