Thank god Arriva never used to run a service to Sheffield, 30 miles by motorway from their nearest maintenance depot because the 25 miles from Brighouse to Pontefact (or 28 miles to Ackworth) really would look silly wouldn't it. But, Arriva did run a service to Sheffield, it was the X33, from Bradford to Sheffield, ended January 2007

They try to win any tender going then when they can't operate it " it's sorry, we have a vehicle breakdown " and it goes unpunished by metro !! Yorkshire Tiger have cancelled a vast number of departures over the last year on their Elland based tenders, yet they arent being slammed and demanded to be stripped of their tenders. thats coz Elland tends to have vehicles coming over from Waterloo and Honley depots as they both currently have plenty of spare buses at present (yes that includes the ones from Leeds Depot).

Why is running a service to a point 30 miles from a depot questionable; Coastliners in Leeds are 32 miles from their depot and Connexions depot is 44 miles from Ilkley but no one seems to question their operation of Wharfedale services and the X52

The majority of the cancellations are not due to vehicle shortages - they are due to one thing - SOWERBY BRIDGE, and the HORRENDOUS traffic congestion that occurs on a regular basis, so buses either dont get back in time for their next trip, so its a case of dropping a trip to try and get the services back on schedule. Last January (and possibly even now) the following services could be affected by Sowerby Bridge due to interworking - 561/562/563/574, X58/532, 572/577/578

H'mmm - a quick bit of arithmetic suggests 27 miles is about 43.5 kilometres...

LOT taking over a route the best part of 30 miles from their base compared to Coastliner whose service to Leeds, while 32 miles away actually passes their depot at Malton.

I think it's very obvious West Yorkshire bus was being sarcastic based on the fact some Arriva fanatics on here hate LOT and recon they'll be out of business the very nanosecond after a cancelled journey! Look non LOT fans, all bus companies cancel journeys at least once a week, look at how many First fail to run every week in Leeds thanks to the strike linked issues. How the Traffic Commissioner are not on to First now I've no idea, their attitude is shocking using passengers and staff as pawns in their quest to squeeze every last penny out of their operations. Going back to LOTs cancellations, I assumed a cancellation automatically triggered a fine from Metro otherwise they are receiving funding but not supplying a service

One of our drivers, used to work at YT Elland, got employed with us (TLC) in May, left on Saturday to start at YT Waterloo, on Monday, he was back with us, yesterday (Thursday). And the reason, he came back?, was, they wanted him to take a bus out, with all the warning bulbs lit up like a Christmas Tree

When do lot take over the 49 ackworth/pontefract? They are only operating a single journey on the service, M Travel will continue with the rest. LOT will run the 16:52 from Pontefracr to Ackworth.

It'll run off of the school PM journey they have down there which in turn runs off of the 197.
