Will WYMetro try to recover money paid for a contracted service that did not operate Yes, as is standard practice in any bus tender there is a deduction made for lost mileage each month. Nominally it is as reported by the operator but Metro has reliability checks, they can monitor things like twitter and I suspect they have access to data through the Metro run real-time system & Metro supplied ticket machines.

Heard a rumour yesterday, that LOT are handing back the tendered journeys on 212/223(Sundays)/252. Anybody got any concrete evidence, if it's true?

The services being passed back haven't gone through Metro, but by LOT and Arriva directly, Arriva had been wanting the routes back since LOT won the tender in February.

That is not how tendered services work. If they were to offered out again on the open market they are offered to everyone, Metro don't just approach one or two operators ignoring everyone else.

As i work for part of the management team at LOT, I know that we have contacted Arriva directly and they have agreed to take on the work. This has been done with Jeanette and Nigel Featham directly and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority have had no say in the matter.

Bearing in mind it's the WYCA paying for the contract, they may well want to know what this arrangement is all about. They've paid LOT to run it and not Arriva. WYCA have every right to re-tender it where as LOT have no right so what is this arrangement all about?

I always thought that metro asked the previous operator to take back routes, therefore arriva would do them anyway. Ps no more bread van!!!!!

Sorry but I can't cut and paste the link but the West Yorkshire Metro site news section has an up date on LOT going into receivership. It would appear that news of the demise had not reached the ears of the driver of the 933 I saw in Meltham at lunchtime.
