I really do strongly doubt this, heard it numerous times. Was supposed to be gone years ago. Todmorden can only fit about 8 buses in, Calder Valleys wont have enough buses. Even First Todmorden depot was supposed to be gone... The Elmwood garage in Halifax could fit quite a few in, but I dont think they are going to sell up.

Rumours of Skircoat Road being sold to a supermarket have been around for over 10 years. In fact planning permission was granted back in 1995 for one.

There has been an offer for £5 million pounds. If sale goes ahead 508 to Leeds - 503 to Huddersfield - 590 ETC to Todmorden - Yellow buses to a temporary site. If they win the 2013 tenders they will look for a new depot.

Where are all these rumours coming from?
I'd like to see them trying to fit the whole PVR of the 590 etc into Todmorden depot, when it is full already.

Where are all these rumours coming from? I don't doubt it. The other stuff has all the hallmarks of many of the rumours that have come & gone on this forum for years. Usually caused by people thinking that some random driver they have spoken to is party to boardroom decisions.

Yes it was announced in a union meeting few weeks ago, nearly every bus driver in Halifax knows about it, the plans are that skircoat road will close and Elmwood will stay. Yellow buses will find a new yard elsewhere and as already said 508\576\503 will move to different depots, they could probably get away with keeping all Calder valleys at Elmwood along with all town work.

Although the automatic assumption would be that the 508 would move to Leeds, they could in theory run it from Bradford, what with it running alongside the 681 into Halifax (a Bradford route) and the 670/671 into Leeds (a Bradford route) and running via Dudley Hill which is about 2 minutes from Bradford depot.

Would it be wise to assume the 503 will be run by Huddersfield then?. I would imagine with the simple transfer of the Halifax B7TL's assigned to run this route to Old Fieldhouse Lane, plus the expected influx of HP ALX400's into Hudds soon. The Hudds depot should have no problems supplying the PVR for this route.

If the 503/508/576 move to other depots from Halifax - my estimation is a loss of 26 buses from their overall PVR. This is a considerable reduction. I have recently from a reliable source that the 576 is definitely going to Bradford at the end of the month

I doubt the Todmorden depot will run the 590's because there will be alot of dead running up and down the valley... I think it will just stay as running the 589 and some selected Calder Valley runnings.

The current Elmwood depot doesn't have an ideal layout.
Where they going to put the washing & fueling facilities?

I don't get all this rumours. Peale saying it was mentioned at a union meeting. Question is was anyone of these guy actually at the meetings or anyone from the said company and not just "what we've heard" that's going around. Think we should sit back an wait and see what actually happens and proof from someone who actually works for First.

I really don't believe it because the Tescos is going on the HSS tool hire place and it is only supposed to be a small store not a full blowm supermarket. If they want one with a Petrol Station, there is the Esso (or something) down the road from it Skircoat Road Depot.
