Noted today in Barnsley Interchange was a group of OAPs talking about Tate's getting the 23 and still thinking it goes on the same route. Same group were also talking about Cubley not having a bus from July too.
Cannot see Tate's staying on the Sundays / Evenings tenders long. They have no drivers willing to do that sort of work or so im told.

They've only got around 3 updated timetables at the moment. 56/57 (Rotherham - East Dene), 300 (Penistone Town Service) and X10 (Barnsley - Meadowhall). However they have got a full list of service changes displayed, including the additional services into West Yorkshire. Service Changes: www.tates-travel.com/route_watch.htm

Not West Yorkshire i know but : Tate's travel will start operating a bunch of routes from Veolia in Rotherham tomorrow (July 2) including the X12 via the M1. It will be interesting to see what Tate's use on this. Might consider waiting around an extra to see both buses .

Make the most of it, TM are apparently taking over the entire Veolia Rotherham operation from the end of this month.

Also, Stagecoach's service changes are available too from their website: www.stagecoachbus.com/serviceupdatedetails.aspx?Id=3023

Makes me wounder if the so called upgraded heating system is the same one Stagecoach have on there E200s, If so its only good when your sat on the row in front of the step up. Can see some accident forms coming if these Assault Screens swing back and don't hold open. Isn't CCTV now something that has to be in place ?

Yorkshire Rider/First have assault screens and its hard to see how they can cause injury or accidents?

Don't know really, Don't the screens swing back when the driver lets go off them Well thats understandable if driver is trying to open the door & say hand slips off while getting out....Therefore the door will slam back into his/her body & cause a lot of injury damage i guess.

I have literally climbed in and out thousands of buses with screens on and never once have I been injured. I have also worked for the last 5 years controlling a depot of 90 buses and 250+ staff and I have never heard of anybody injuring themselves with a bandit screen. So I would imagine Tates driver will be pretty safe. ;D

They are only attached to the door, no different than having a tall door.

I came to the area in April and rode some Tate's buses including an ex-Bus Eireann Dart. I cam early in the year concerned that Stagecoach route 20 (or CentreBus route 85) might be withdrawn, and my decision has now been vindicated.

Looking at the timetables of the 23 and 25, it does look like that they are interworking at Penistone, so it is still possible to travel from Holmfirth to Barnsley, albeit via Stocksbridge. While I am relieved that it will still be possible to reach Holmfirth from Barnsley, I rode a route (I think 57) from Sheffield to Holmfirth via Stocksbridge on August Bank Holiday 2007. I hope that Tate's retain the 11-reg Enviro 200 currently running the ex-Veolia route once TM Travel take it over.
