Well it is First we are talking about so they will make it as tight as possible!

Exactly. I imagine the Guiseley-Westfield section to be cut from just under an hour to about 32 minutes and surely you can go Menston Station to Otley in 6 mins!
Well its either one way or the other with them, if its not 5 minutes too tight its 5 minutes slack built in every other timing point!

Some misallocations from today in Huddersfield all of which are First buses.
Alexander RH Leyland Olympian 30736 (L26GAN) on the 310 and 312. Alexander RH Leyland Olympian 30735 (L25GAN) on the 315. Dart 40873 (S140AGR) on the 301. Wright Urban Volvo 66751 (YJ05KOB) on the 357. This bus carries branding for the Yellow Line 301/302 service.

Arrivas schedules are awful. If you use them before 9am they are too slack especially on the 219/229. You seem to spend ages at the timing points!

Some drivers don't like waiting until the proper time though and thats when you get early running which is something that should never happen.
Anyway you sound quite lucky there, usually if I attempt to get an Arriva bus its always at least a guaranteed 5 mins late, often more! That company has *really* gone downhill since yonder days of West Riding/Yorkshire.

Good luck to who ever fills the role as MD of Arriva Yorkshire, managing a company in meltdown!

I'd love to take over that role but somehow I think my plans for lots of new vehicles, reinstating withdrawn routes, reinstating off peak fares, training drivers in this new fangled concept of customer service etc etc, would not go down too well with HQ!

Yes it would cost money, a concept Arriva don't understand up here!

I drive most of the time now, but used to have the misfortune of using Arriva buses. They were terrible at time keeping, drivers were often grumpy (and indeed smelly), and the constant reduction in routes and increase in fares forced many passengers (including myself) to drive instead.
Back to topic - Optare Tempo demonstrator was in use on Arrive 268 to Bradford yesterday.

Yes they do seem to arrive early. My bus 229 to Leeds was due at end of my (Along Bradford Road, Batley) street at 07 arrived at 02 then stopped at birstall for 5 mins then speeding up to Gildersome where it waited another 5 mins. All passengers running thinking they would miss it yet wasn't goin anywhere!! Drivers just sit there reading their copy of "Metro" paper! Passengers at previous stops were not happy cos their bus has been and gone early and stops at next stop up road. They then have to run up to catch it. Arriva Drivers often like to speed up then wait for ages.
You wonder why passengers think their bus hasn't turned up. It may have but was very early!.

One thing I would like to add is that I saw a White FTR today, stopped in the bus stop next to the Drysalters pub on the Ring Road. On the destination board it said "First with Metro". I wonder if there trying these buses out on another route??

Caught the 4 from Jimmy's to the Rail Station at about 17.10 tonight. Don't know if it is usually the case, but Royale bodied Olympian 30796 (R616JUB) was used rather than an ftr.

Some misallocations from yesterday and today all in the Huddersfield area.
Yesterday, Northern Counties Volvo Olympian 30753 (L888YTT) working the 328. Alexander RV bodied Volvo Citybus 30379 (G523RDS) working the 328. This is the Lime Line and is normally worked by route branded Wright Urban Volvos.
Northern Counties Leyland Olympian 30731 (J130YRM) working the 310 in place of the normal Royale.
From today, There was an open day at Huddersfield Uni which included the student residences at Storthes Hall and Ashenhurst which produced a number of buses. Both of Huddersfields coaches, 20407 (R307JAF) and 20409 (R309JAF), were in use along with Royale 30817 (R637HYG) and an unidentified Gemini branded for the 363. These were working along side the normal Volvo Citybuses that normally work the 398 to Storthes.

The 556 is run by Huddersfield, therefore that allocation is normal

Just the one misallocation from today.
Arriva ALX200 186 (P186VUA), still carrying its dark red colour scheme, working the 202/203. I had the joy of this bus all the way from Leeds to Huddersfield which was packed for most of the journey. The bus is totally unsuitable for the route, even worse on a busy weekend like it was today.
Arriva was not having a good day with the 202/203. While on my way to Leeds on double decker 1606 we got stopped by the driver of the service in front. He had failed the bus (1603) with faulty suspension and all passengers had to transfer to our bus to continue their journey. And through out the day the buses on the route where operating in 2s or 3s. The 15min frequency was out the window.

Well Leeds was in grid lock yesterday. Buses seemed to bunched up alot! Well Eastbound down the Headrow was bumper to bumper with buses and the occasional illicit car. I had to wait an hour for a 51 which is supposed to be every 20 minutes and the bus that showed up was 30712 an all built Leyland Olympian.

The bottom of Headrow is a nightmare.
If a bus is lucky enough to get past the pelican crossing down from Argos, it gets stuck trying to get on the roundabout to go round to the bus station.
I've been on the Free City Bus that's taken 15 minutes to get from The Headrow to the bus station.
